Bought an 09 Ruby Redline (with the graphite stripe) last month and have lurked around the site long enough and figured it was time to join.

I live in New Mexico and bought the car from an individual in the DC area. After several unsuccessful attempts at getting the car shipped, I flew to DC and drove it back to NM - roughly 1800 miles. The car had just over 26000 miles on it when I picked it up and ran great on the trip home. The only issue was that my back took a little bit of a beating due to the lack of lumbar support in the lower part of the seat back and I have since installed inflatable supports in both seats and it is MUCH better.

Of course driving a car for that distance gives one lots of time to get familiar with everything and while I was somewhat happy with the stock performance, I have already added the canned Trifecta tune and am now happily boosting to 24/25psi. I have the DDM charge air cooler pipes on the way along with the Solo high flow cat. Having owned several turbocharged cars, I know how addictive the power is and I want more already.

The car that this Sky replaced was a kit car with a turbocharged, fuel injected 2276 VW motor and the whole setup only weighed 1700 pounds. At 18psi it would rip the doors off of just about everything on the road including C6 vettes and Coyote Mustangs and it would be nice to get similar performance out of this (more practical) car. The kit car had no luxuries like heat and AC and the top was almost never up on it so it was strictly a fair weather car.

I've read quite a bit on the available performance upgrades and am kind of kicking myself for jumping on the Trifecta tune as quick as I did because it seems that HP Tuners may have been a better route for getting more power but I can always upgrade when I get to the point of needing a new tune. I actually bought this car for my wife but have found myself driving it more than she does and while she enjoys the power "almost" as much as I do, she's not the power junky that I am and I really enjoy upgrading everything that I can.

At any rate, I just wanted to make a quick introduction and I trust that I will enjoy learing from the experts here.

Thanks,

Jim

Welcome Jim!

As far as I know, you need to link a picture to post it.  Upload it to photobucket or dropbox, etc then link it here and it should post.
I don't think you have to use the little picture icon.

Thanks 1 LIL NDN! The kit car was always a blast and after owning it for almost 11 years, we decided it was time for something different but still wanted a convertible, something with only 2 seats and something you didn't see around every corner. The Sky was it.

Here's a pic of the kit car. It's a replica of a 1956 Porsche 356 Speedster. [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

My wife and I bought it in kinda rough shape. We did all of the interior work, body work and paint and suspension ourselves. I built the pavement pounding engine and turbo kit myself and bought the fuel injection setup (controlled by Megasquirt) from the Dub Shop and a high performance trans from BENCO. After adding the turbo and FI kit, I added a methanol injection setup from Labonte Motorsports and a water to air intercooler setup to keep the intake temps in check. I spent quite a bit of time on tuning and it was a real screamer. I hope to have as much fun with the SKY!

Your cars are too close to bad weather. I don't want them. Plus, you put too many miles on them and don't do the proper maintenance.
