Hello all - relatively new member here, I just picked up an '07 GXP that I'm starting to prep for autocross and other HPDE purposes and am about to buy some dedicated wheels. For this coming season I'm not going to spring for R-comps as I'll still be learning the car, but I do want to go wider than stock and get some decent rubber in the 275/35 or 285/35 range on 18" wheels. I have pretty much decided to get some Forgestar F14s but need to finalize width and offset.
I have found through searching that 18x9 with a 50mm offset should work OK and not have an issue with up to a 275-width tire. I was thinking that if I went with a 18x9.5 it would support a wider tire better, and that with a 45-ish offset I could probably fit OK even if I need a slight spacer.
Any advice on a sweet-spot offset for a 9.5" wheel? I'll be running shorter than stock tires, so fender lip rubbing should be a non-existent problem.
I'm planning to run in SCCA ASP class, so wider is better
The 18x11s will come later...
Thanks!
