Topic: synthetic oil for drive trane

Did a search for replacing tranny and differential oil with synthetic.  No results.  Can anyone steer me to some threads or have any thoughts.

Check with DDM  I am running synthetic in both my tranny and rear, I believe Royal Purple.

I run AMSOIL MTG in the transmission, and their Severe Gear in the differential (it has friction modifiers already in it for differentials are FWD transmissions with integrated transaxles where the differential is in the same casing as the gears and differentials).

Both have a single drain plug near the bottom, and a fill port near the top.  You can either rig up a funnel with a tube setup for the transmission, or use something like this:

It screws onto the top of the oil bottle, so you can pump/squeeze the fluid in, so you don't have to pour it in.  I used it for both the transmission and the differential fill.

It's been in my car for over 5 years now.  I will probably swap it out this spring.  I do the transmission/differential fluid ever 5 years or so.

While there is no good reason to change transmission fluid unless you break something (no combustion products to build up like there is in engine oil) if you DO have to or want to change it, I'd go synthetic.

I had some resistance mid shift in my Lamborghini when it was running normal oil, and when I went through the whole car after I bought it, I changed all the fluids as a matter of course and went to Red Line synthetic in the trans.  I significantly smoothed the shifting action.

I won't be changing the Solstice oil until it os off warranty, but after that might try a synthetic to see if it eases the less than ideal feel of the synchros.

Thanks Guys....just been feeling the shifts more lately, thought might help.  Especially  between first and second.  Life expectentcy of a clutch with just normal wear...? Is cold hear in S Ga...may be part.
