FS NEW EDAG Solstice Hardtop
« on: February 03, 2014, 04:25:42 PM »
I have number 8 of 20 Solstice Hardtops made by EDAG

(Total number of kits not confirmed, I was told by EDAG that no more than 20 complete kits were made, parts for 80 kits were started, but only 20 sets of glass were made)

It is includes all the glass, headliner, molding/trim, and instructions

It is finished in gray gel coat and ready for paint and installation

It has never been installed or painted, in Like New Condition

I know some of these were once sold on clearance for $750, but I paid more and think they are worth it! Build quality is OEM and fitment is excellent.

I am asking $2000.00 OBO

Did you buy this from that Craigslist ad you posted about, and then change your mind?

A friend bought it and lost his job and wrecked his Solstice the same day, so I'm helping a buddy in need out.

Yeah, he's had a string of bad luck, I think he was stressing in the car after leaving work, wasn't paying attention.

Very interesting item........would it fit a Sky? Does it make the trunk (if you can call it that) inoperatable?

Are you asking if "it makes it's ass look big"  :kwh:

Actually the rear fenders are a different shape between the Sky and Solstice so no it won't work.  When this is installed you remove the trunk lid so the trunk is still operable it's just out in the open.

This may be what's all that is left of EDAG hardtops: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2006-2009-PONTIAC-SOLSTICE-SPORT-ROOF-NOMAD-STYLE-BY-REVENGE-DESIGN-/121435794718?fits=Make%3APontiac%7CModel%3ASolstice&hash=item1c46232d1e&vxp=mtr

Seller sometimes advertises them through Craigslist (Decanter, IL)

No mounting hardware, no interior felt roof headliner, and no seals.  About the only reason I'd see to buy one of these is to have an extra set of the hardtop glass.

BTW, EDAG is still around they displayed an ultra light car (that lights up) at the 2015 Geneva Auto Show.

Thanks for the link!

But yeah, not sure how they can even legitimately sell those. It's not like I can just order replacement seals/headliner. They'd have to be fabricated, and would be difficult to make water-tight.

EDAG is a great company, unfortunately I've been told second-hand that all the CAD files were destroyed (per edict from GM), so they can't help at all.

I ran across this a few weeks ago; http://nmi.craigslist.org/cto/5098162893.html
While the ad doesn't say they'd be willing to sell the hardtop separately, you could still ask.  This is being sold by the owners son and doesn't mention EDAG, just hardtop.  So he may not be aware of how rare these tops are.

Some EDAG shells are also available on Ebay for $400.  However, be aware, they have no mounting hardware, no rubber seals, and no headliner: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2006-2009-PONTIAC-SOLSTICE-SPORT-ROOF-BY-REVENGE-DESIGN-HELP-LOST-STORAGE-/121435794718?fits=Make%3APontiac%7CModel%3ASolstice&hash=item1c46232d1e&vxp=mtr

I actually spoke to the owner of the silver car. It is perfect except it is an auto. I have one of the tops sold by Dan in Indiana. He had a large stack of them sitting outside in a storage yard. It has a slight crack in the fiberglass, and no hardware. I still might buy the Michigan car, unless I find another complete top for sale.

I know it's an old post but I  was late to solstice party. Very interested in North Carolina.
There was one in Wisconsin but as I was negotiating the place was covered with 50 inches of snow. He has no responded since.

I DO like the looks of them on our cars though, it's a unique look for sure.
