The off idle massive torque is just a little annoying in traffic. That's why I wish it had a taller first gear. A turbo swap that took a little from the bottom and gave more at the top end would be great. But I don't want lag. Driving my GXP is like driving my old 450hp 420tq small block S10, just seamless power. But you can tell the stock turbo starts to give up at the upper end. Any opinions on a not to expensive turbo change that's straight forward and would net 300hp at the tires? |

For the money the best bang vs money spend is the DDM GT2871 at less than $1300.00 http://www.ddmworks.com/DDMWorks-GT2871-Turbo-Upgrade_p_72.html |

My question is what does it take to put down 300hp at the tires? But still keep it as nice as the GM tune, don't think it would hurt if it was a little softer just off idle. I have wished the car had a taller first gear, it makes so much torque off idle. --- End quote --- Just save your money and find a "happy" dyno :) from 290 hp declared by GM to 300whp on a dyno is a looong way. I always hated 1st and 2nd gear hard accelerations from low rpm because the tq peak with stock turbo (I was doing around 450tq), because my previous cars were 2L turbo, huge turbo peak and dies after 5500rpm. I wanted to replicate a NA V8, went with a medium turbo (after 2-3 other turbos) and the tq is lower and constant, you can call it laggy compared with stock turbo, but I hated when pushing it and it went either TC cut off or sliding. --- Quote from: wspohn on February 22, 2014, 12:35:07 PM ---This thread is really a tad silly, don't you guys think? It is like saying 'Who has seen the highest temperature at your place in the summer?" but then throwing in a kicker and saying that none of the thermometers are calibrated and may read all over the place. That's the situation with dynos. The 'winner' of a thread like this is going to be the guy that used the most liberally reading dyno. What can you learn from that? --- End quote --- I agree. I learned dynos are just tuning tools and definetly not an absolute value indicator of the performance. |

You might want to look at a canned tune from Trifecta or some of the other tuners (or roll your own with one of the program packages if you have the skill and it doesn't make you nervous). The basic Trifecta is probably the best value plug and play though. But it isn't likely to give you 300 whp with a stock turbo and no other tweaks like alcohol fuel in a Kappa. I just wanted to purely know what were some of the highest dyno numbers people were putting. That being said I actually did dyno my car last night and was able to put down 325RWHP and 387RWTQ on a mustang dyno. I have never dynoed or tuned on a dyno with this car ever. And honestly I might even get my ass whooped by a less hp sky or solstice at the track because I have never ran my car there before. Basically I'm not trying to say the highest dyno wins, but was just merely curious with what were some of the highest numbers people were putting down on stock turbo. lol |
