Mine been work fine for 104k & almost 7 yrs. I decided not to have the recall done.
Not willing to take that chance since I read the story of a woman w/07 GXP who crashed and suffered a leg amputation couple years ago. She is now suing GM since the recall info came out. She lost power, crashed and had no airbags deployed.
These tales puzzle me. If your car stalls while driving you'll still have power steering and brakes (for a while) so why did she crash? If she crashed by her own (or other's) mistake, how would the airbags have saved her leg?Just seems to be a lot of bandwagon-jumping going on with the stories.
RichSol, did you see the car that women was in that's suing GM for loss of her legs? The car hit the tree side ways and the air bags didn't deploy. There was no front end damage to the car. The air bags aren't supposed to deploy! Why, as you are thrown against the door, would you want the air bag in your face? It's awful what happened to that poor woman but it just sounds like a stupid lawyer jumping on the bandwagon to me. Here's a link to the article and video.http://www.ktre.com/story/25204332/lufkin-native-who-lost-legs-in-accident-near-livingston-suing-gm-over-faulty-ignition-switch
Anyway, I've been thinking about this, a situation where you could get into trouble would be in heavy traffic where there is a sudden stop. Then the car may be sluggish and wouldn't have enough time to stop.
