So I went out and started both the 1st 1000, 06 manual, and the 09 GXP Auto to see if I could feel it the 06 ignition was easier to switch off than the 09 ignition.  The 06 in the engine running position did seem to switch into the accessory/off position a little easier than the 09.  But if could have just as easily been my imagination due to everything I've read.  Also, The amount of times the ignition switch has been switch off and on could also play a part in ignition failure, along with the previously mentioned weight on the key chain.  All I have on both key rings is the fob.

I received the notice from GM yesterday in the mail. They're saying only have the key in the ignition and they don't have the parts yet. :O

So, I have removed everything from the key, to be safe.

Ride it like you mean it.

Yesterday I got a postcard from GM, they are now offering a $25 gift card if I bring my car in for them to do the recall.  I wonder what they might be offering next spring when I get the car back out and on the road again.

Hmm, I can get two gift cards then since my CTS-V also falls under the list.

You want to tell me that you didn't bring your car to the dealer for the recall? :poke:

I had my done in September!

Got back two new keys and a warning.

Each key has a ring with the remote and the fuel key.

They warned (Opel Germany) me not to put  other keys or things on the ring, otherwise GM wouldn't pay anything in case of a crash. :slap:

No, I have not taken my car back for the recall.  The dealership with their "trained professionals" have done more damage to my car than I care to list.

That's a big issue!

I'm glad that my dealer owns a Saturn Sky and knows how to handle my car.

I finally had mine completed last week.  I had to laugh, they gave me new keys and all but they are exactly the same cut as the old ones.
They said that the ignition switch is a custom ordered to the VIN number item. So, I guess the cut of the keys must stay the same.

When I got home all I had to do is make the car learn the set of keys I still had at home and now that old key works just like the new ones.  Apparently the only thing that changed with the keys other than the cosmetic is the made the slot for the key ring into a small hole.

Hmmm, that's pretty interesting!

In Germany they take away the old keys and send them to Opel/GM. :idk:

That would make sense because they don't change out the door locks...     The problem was never with the keys anyway, just the ignition cylinder.  Kind of common sense.

It's ironical that I am reading this while sitting in a juror paddock waiting to see if I will be called for duty or rejected.
