Valve spring & lash adjuster replacement
« on: April 09, 2014, 11:35:18 AM »
I'm considering upgrading the valve springs and lash adjusters sooner rather than later and am looking for procedures for doing the job and would appreciate hearing from anyone that has done this job themselves. Did you make your own spring compressor, rent one or buy one? Did you put witness marks on the timing chain, cam gears and cams to make certain that the timing ended up exactly as it was before removing the cams?

I've searched and have not found a step-by-step procedure yet and want to do the job myself but I want to make sure I can complete it in less than 6 hours at work so I don't have to leave it overnight.

Thanks

I did find this. http://www.cobaltss.net/forums/how-guide-43/how-install-comp-zzp-s1-cams-supertech-75-valve-springs-gmr-cylinder-head-292811/

It's an LSJ but still an Ecotec which should be handy for R&R instructions of the cams and springs but I'm not sure if the timing information is the same for the LNF or not.

Since you are an LSM, go to the LSM section find the service manual thread it's a sticky so it's at the top of the list.  You should be able to find the factory procedure to change the stock parts and that should apply to what you are asking.

Thanks for the info! That is totally AWESOME and well worth more than the cost of becoming an LSM. Gonna make another donation.

Thanks again!!!
