I've tuned my auto trans with the 2.25 beta release with great results. Not only does the trans shift quicker at WOT than it did on the factory tune but it shifts smoother around town than my 7 series BMW. My wife drives the car as much as I do and she can't believe how well it shifts around town. The cruise shifts are almost unnoticable.
IIRC, factory shift times were close to .5 seconds at WOT and I've reduced my times down to .125 seconds at 236 lb.ft and up and everything below 236 to .20 seconds.
If you're getting an engine tuned for an auto setup, the only way to effectively raise your redline is to tune the trans as well because the stock trans tune in the TCM will shift at the lower stock rpms regardless of what you've set the ECM to.
I run the WR3 turbo in my setup so I can't compare mine to the stock setup plus my elevation here is 3700 feet so I'm probably not as fast as some of the other WR3 setups but I'm more than happy with it as it sets. 4.4 second 60-100 (4.2 sea level) times and 8.1 second 40-115 (7.7 sea level) times are good enough for me. (For now anyways). I'm running a somewhat conservative tune on E28 right now (27psi @ 20* up top) and know that there's much more to be had from moving to E47 but it's nice to be able to enjoy the car for a while without messing with the tune which I've been doing for a few months now.
Come spring time I will probably make the move to E47 and bring those times down even more.
