Travel cleaning kit
« on: November 11, 2014, 10:42:29 AM »
Even with my car as a daily driver, I try to keep her clean (I carry a bottle of quick detailer in the car - is that crazy?).  I want to put together a travel cleaning kit for the car.  Anyone here do this or have one?  If so, what do you take with you?

Also, when you clean in and under the engine bay and the wheel wells, is it ok to use something like heavily diluted simple green? Or will that cause spotting on the aluminum parts?

Have you checked out this section of the forum?

http://www.kappaperformance.com/forum/index.php/board,46.0.html

You might find some of your answers there.

PS it's not crazy, I don't have a travel kit but I do clean it after almost every time I drive it.

I use a "hybrid" spray-on paint sealant and microfiber towels. I don't normally carry such thing, but when going to a car show, those are what I use for on-site cleaning.

Nice to know I am not the only one on here.   :yay:

I have these products:

http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/speed+shine+8+ounces.do?sortby=ourPicks&refType=&from=Search

http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/collapsible+wash+bucket+pop+up+trash+can.do?sortby=ourPicks&refType=&from=Search

And an assortment of microfiber towels:

http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/bug+smudge+remover+22+ounces.do?sortby=ourPicks&refType=&from=Search

This is awesome info.  The stuff mentioned in the detailing forum lists mostly home detailing.  Kind of wanted something I could take with me when traveling.  I want to keep it nice and shiny.

You can still get his products?  I thought he sold the business?

Yes, he sold the business, no you can't buy his stuff any more, but he published the formula for his glass cleaner:
