Howdy from the Ozarks
« on: February 22, 2015, 08:54:52 PM »
Thanks for adding me!  Lyn here and I'm a proud new owner of an '08 Solstice GXP.  I wanted one of these when they first came out.  Test drove a new one twice and just couldn't justify it.  Still can't but my wife surprised me with the ultimate Valentines gift less than two weeks ago.  What a woman!

I live in the heart of the Arkansas Ozark Mtns about an hour south and east of Branson Mo.  Can't wait for spring!  Lots and lots of curvy windy roads in every direction.  Lots of cool destinations nearby too.  Born and raised here.  Know all the out of the way places to drive to.  Frankly, this part of the country is one of the best keep secrets around for doing anything on the road, on the trail, in the woods or on the water.  Ya'll come see for yourselves!

With this car I've become the guy I hated when I was 18 years old.  I'm the partially bald, slightly over weight old fart with the hot car.  But, I think I can live with it.

Bought the car from a little old 75 year old lady in Winnsboro, LA.  39T miles and garage kept its whole life.  She said it was time to let it go and she literally had a tear in her eye when I drove off with it.

Lastly, I really don't have any plans to modify my car, but I do enjoy reading what you guys are doing and learning what you can do.  I look forward to learning all I can.  I'm sure I'll be doing more lurking than posting.  Thanks for letting me be a part of it.

And you haven't, you've had others do it for you.  But you supervised.

Welcome to the forum.  Yes, the Ozarks provide for some fine driving in places.  Watch for information coming in the near future with regard to our June, 2016, National Get-Together in the Ozarks.  You won't see much until late June, 2015, when they ramp up and get the ball rolling.

In the mean time, enjoy the new wheels!

Welcome!

Please post a picture or two of the car.  What color combo?  Transmission?

Even if you're not planning to modify the car, consider increasing the chassis rigidity; the car is 10x more enjoyable with a better foundation.

Welcome!

But even if you don't want to modify much, please get the DDM Backbone and ProBeam installed - they tighten the car's and handling SO much that they are well worth their modest cost.  Also, if you still have the factory tires on there, it must be past their time to swap (for age if not for wear).  Do NOT replace with the factory ones again.  Many many better choices out there that are cheaper but better in every way.

Where exactly are you located in the 'Ozarks'?
I am in Heber Springs, AR and have been part of the Solstice crowd for a few years.   :yay: Maybe we can get together?

Thanks all for the warm welcome and thanks for the upgrade suggestions too.  You've given me an excellent starting point for making the awesome car even better!  I'll figure out how to post some pics and share.  I live in Yellville in the north central part of Arkansas.  Born and raised right here.  I look forward to meeting all you fine folks on and down the road.
