The new 2.0L DDMWorks intake is available!
« on: March 11, 2015, 08:44:02 AM »

DDMworks is proud to offer our intake for the 2.0L turbo Solstice/Sky and Opel GT!

After working on these engines for years and installing the other intakes on the market we knew we could do better, so we developed what we believe is the best intake on the market for the 2.0L Solstice/Sky and Opel GT. We started out by making the tube from a single piece of mandrel bent aluminum to optimize flow and decrease turbulence. Next we choose to go with a dry-flow filter to prevent the common issue of oil contamination from the filter on the air flow meter. The oversize filter we choose also gives long life between cleanings and extremely low resistance to flow at higher engine loads and RPM's. The bracket that mounts the intake in the car is made from durable stainless steel to keep from rusting and is extra thick to outlast the car. The attachment to the turbo is made with a real silicone connection and secured with stainless steel hose clamps. Power gains are dependent on the tune you are running and also other modifications made to the car. While cruising around at light throttle a slight increase in noise is normal, under full throttle the sound of rushing air into the turbo is heard and when letting off on the throttle the bypass valve "whoosh" blow off noise is heard. We have test fit this intake on stock turbo's our 2871 turbo upgrade and EFR turbo setup, please select which turbo you are installing this intake on for the correct silicone connection.

Special introductory price of only - $275!
Normal Price is $325

That last pic of the intake pipe reminds me of the guy who came to a Mod Meet once, with his arm in a cast.

Really?  I only recall him modifying the contents of some beer bottles.

I'd be curious to hear the difference in the sound if possible. With my EFR and Solo setup, my wife thinks the car is a bit loud inside while cruising but I don't but I wouldn't want to make it louder for her.

Through April 15th.

Jim - At cruise intakes really do not make much of a difference in sound, full throttle and throttle lift is when you hear things going on with intakes.

Received my email today about new products being offered and seen your lnf in a Bugeye Sprite. Holy cow that should not be done (But dang that is awesome). Way too much power for that car. I had replaced mine with a Datsun B100 motor in mine (it was 1992 at the time and no money to restore). No power but fund to drive. I miss my Sprite but I'm so glad I have a Solstice. Here she was in 2001 before she sold for a "about to be a new parent and need a practical car".

Loved the bugeye.  No power, didn't corner, leaked like a sieve, but I still loved it.  Much more affordable than my dream car a 3000

The cool thing about bugeyes/frogeyes is how simple they are, they are just fun.  The 3000 "big Healeys" are nice cars too.

Dave,

Since I'm running the EFR turbo setup, do you include or install a second fitting for the return line from the oil catch can or would I need to get my own? It looks like you have one installed on elff's setup but my old eyes could also be playing tricks on me as well.

Thanks!

Apologizing for the thread drift right off the bat - nice Bugeye.  We had a local race car built using one, with an Olds 215 stuffed into it.  Handling certainly wasn't as crisp as the 4 cylinder version was, but it did haul along in a straight line quite well (it wwas a road racer).

I seriously considered an Ecotec for my MGA project, but as I did it back in 2006/7 they weren't exactly thick on the ground.  I ended up opting for a 200 bhp 3.4 GM V6, adequate in a 2000 lb. car.  Does the fact that I used a CAI make it slightly less off topic....)

Does anyone know if this is CARB certified?  If not, does anyone know if DDM plans to CARB certify it?  Looks very nice, but have to think about Big Brother California Air Resources Board.

Thanks

I can't speak for DDM, but I believe the process to certify is long and also costly, so I'm not sure they would bother.  Perhaps a majority of after market parts suppliers don't seem to bother with CA certification.

Many people stick things like this on and then plead ignorance about it if asked and the testing staff don't always know anyway.  I managed to slide a turbo by them on my Fiero for 20 years, although that was not in California.  Talking to residents there, they either seem to avoid non-certified goods or use them and try the ignorance thing.

IMHO- the intake will pose no issues in CA so long as no codes are thrown. I understand the desire to remain "compliant" but I'd move forward with this one and never look back.

I like your thinking, but I was advised on another forum that anything between the air filter and the cat will likely fail the "visual" unless there is a CARB sticker.  I just don't want to  have to install then uninstall before every smog check.  What mods do you have, and do you pass smog with them?

There is no longer a visual in CA. I just got the "red bomber" smogged and all the did was connect the obd2 and check for codes. Never opened the good.

I'd print the carb sticker off the GMPP intake if your really worried :)

PS- the red bomber is a 2001 dodge Dakota.

With the 10% discount, it's now 247.50. I picked one up and look forward to getting it installed and hope it's not noisy at cruise.
