Gt2871 set up questions
« on: March 16, 2015, 03:34:10 PM »
I'm looking for a little more power in my Opel gt
And i've been doing a lot of reading on the forum.
I already have a downpipe with 100cell cat,RPI exhaust and bigger intercooler.
My shopping list:DDM gt2871 with install kit
                       Synapse blow off valve
                       DDM Charge pipes
                       DDM cold air intake
                       Oil catch can
                       Trifecta tune + flash cable
What do you guys think. Is there something i'm forgetting?
I'm not sure about the tuning part, because i live in europe, don't know if its possible

Would be happy with suggestions

Thank you

Tony I might have some experience into that after switching 3 turbos in 3 different setups :) but I presume you are not often in Bruxelles because it is not easy as it appears on the internet.

Kelu,i'm not sure i understand.
Do you visit Brussels regularly?
From my reading on the internet the DDM gt2871 upgrade seemed pretty straight forward.
Witch specific difficulties do you mean?

Yes, I visit Belgium pretty often from Monday till Friday :)
Let me ask you in a different way, on how many cars did you upgrade stock turbo with a custom one?

I would suggest that you get HP Tuners instead of Trifecta.
That way anyone can tune your car, vs one proprietary shop.  There are a lot of tuned 2871's in the field so you are pretty sure to be able to get a safe tune for it.

I agree with the above posts.
But the turbo listed here. Never going to beat that deal.
Get HP tuners. Tune remotely with DDM or other

Enjoy

@Kelu :This would be my first. My other cars are modded and tuned, but all with stock turbo.
Thats why I wanted to go with a bolt-on, proven turbo set.
Do you think that it is not reliable?I don't drag ore track my car, only some spirited driving
           occasionally.
@Gentleman Jack & elff:
I was thinking off getting it tuned by DDM.
           Is HP tuners mutch better?
Once the gt2871 is installed and properly tuned I don't intend to change anymore.
In Belgium it isn't allowed to mod anything on your car and every year there is a technical
check up,so it has to look stock.

I think DDM uses HP Tuners.  If you have HP Tuners DDM can send you tune files and you can install them.  You can also do logs, send that info back to DDM and they can adjust your tune and send you a new file.

Being the first, triple your planned time, money and hassle, if you are still ok with the new values then you can go ahead and do it.
I don't know how annual check is in Flanders but in Bru is a pain.
HP Tuners is the way to go with custom tune which is 500$, so the price is already started to go higher  :D

What do I need for HPtuners?I can't seem to find it on the DDM site.
Is it 500$ for the tune alone?

$500 is for the HP Tuners hardware. You'll most likely end up paying for a tune from DDM as well but in the long run, you'll be much happier that you went with HP Tuners instead of Trifecta. When you get to a point where you're happy with everything and don't think you'll want to change the tune anymore, you can sell the HP Tuners hardware which would still have 6 credits on it. That's how I bought mine and I paid $375 for it so in the end you really wouldn't be out that much more money.

The road to success is always under construction.

HPTuners allows you to record test runs on your car, email them to your tuner.  The tuner would look at the run display, make adjustments, save the new tune and send it back to you.  You would then save your existing tune (if you haven't already) load the new tune to your vehicle.   Drive it for a while and they records some runs and send them to the tuner.   This is repeated until you are both happy with the performance.

I have the same set up from ddm... I regret going with trifecta... just get the tune from ddm via HP tuners, its more user and aftermarket friendly... YOU DO NOT WANNA DEAL WITH TRIFECTA TRUST ME... there was a time when they were good but things have changed and you'll be waiting to get a tune emailed for weeks than you log and email it back to them only to wait weeks for an update... get hp tuner and call it a day
