My one-off custom Pitbull Hood
« on: February 26, 2009, 04:29:29 AM »
Well...I'm finally taking the plunge...I've loved the Pitbull hood since I first saw it...however, I've never been really in love with any of the hoods I've seen out there...so, I'm getting a local custom hot rod body shop to make the hood for me....they are also repainting the car so all of my Norm's parts will be blended. in..the first step is making a foam mock up of the scoop that I like...here are the first new pictures....he's making it as close to the Pitbull as he can...it will be fully functional but I'll have to figure out how to get the inside liner modified and looking right...I will post more pics as the project goes along...also got the AfterShock spoiler which will be painted and installed at the same time...Patrick

Will you eventually be making a mold to sell the hood or will it be a one off?

Pitbull photos for reference.

First, I am not a car guy...I have to hire out all of the work I get done on the Sol...so I found the best custom body guy in town and showed up with a pic of the Pitbull hood along with my Norm transformer side skirts, Aftershock spoiler and replacement F430 front end after it was damaged from transport back from DDM  (transporters fault)...so, the hood will be a one off... I did talk to the body guy and he would be able to make the scoop but anyone getting one would have to find someone to install it...if people are interested, let me know and I'll get some more info...P

So you're just having the just scoop made and molded into the existing hood, and not a new hood, correct?

Hey guys...thanks for all of the kind words...I new I had to own a Sol the first time I saw it...then I knew I had to have the Pitbull hood when I saw it...I took a chance and went out and found an old hot-rodder to build it for me...I think it is awesome and there won't be another Sol like it...along with adding all of Norm's components, DDM upgrade, Aftershock products, SOLO, etc...I love my car...Stage 3 coming...Spiky...I've been talking with my body guy and he has actually taken quite an interest in my car but wants this now to be a one off...old Hot-rodder with pride in his work...I've tried to get him to get a mold for others to get but wants it to be a onee off...Critterman...it will be functional as it will funnel air through the engine compartment and thru my Norm's fenders over the engine...and Snaponbob...he is completely rebuilding the Chevy with twin turbos...it is going to be out of control...I'll let you know more details after my next visit with him...P

Pat,
I am super jealous...I am going to have a talk with my body guy and see how I can vary your idea a bit...don't want to copy it, but the design is great and I'm sure he can build off it.  My scoop is very similar, but it is lower and doesn't go as far to the top of the hood.

The pitbull hood scoop doesn't taper down in the back and has more gradual smoothing lines on the side.   I can't wait to see the final with color on it...
