Help I need new brake pads!
« on: April 15, 2016, 02:42:59 PM »
I need new brake pads and so I went to the next Opel dealer to buy some.
The spare part guy told me that I'll have to pay 250 Euro (about 300$) for the front pads, which is far to expensive.

My good friend has some Duralast Gold pads from Autozone in storage and would sell them to me.

Does someone have any experience with Duralast pads? :idk:

By the way the oem front pads are delivered with brass clamps and the Duralast are delivered without them.
Could I use the old ones?

Duralast is fine for passenger car.
Yes you can reuse clips if they are still snug.
Apply antisqueak correctly.
Make the right choices now

Thanks for your help. :yay:

I've found a manufacturer for brake pads from England who's now selling in Germany.
They also sell in the USA.

You might look and see what Bosch has for our cars over there.  I just replaced all four corners on my G6 with Bosch pads and the cost was around $50.  When I was looking into the parts for the G6 it seems that kappas might use the same pads at least on one of the axles.

I would much prefer the EBC pads (any of them) to Duralast (any of THEM).  Duralast is an Autozone "bargain brand."  They're not exactly known for stellar quality.  I have EBC Yellowstuff on my Sol.  They're pretty dusty, but I expected that from a performance pad.  I've had EBC Greenstuff pads on a car previously, and honestly liked them better than the yellows I have now.  Never tried the red EBC pads.

Never tried the red EBC pads.

I have the Red stuff - negligible dust and far, far better initial feel and stopping distance than the crappy (relatively) stock pads used in the North American cars.  I have no experience with the factory pads supplied in Europe, which were supposed to be better, but expect you'd find the Redstuff EBCs a significant improvement.
