2.4 Long Tube Header
« on: February 02, 2017, 02:31:33 PM »
Anyone know for sure if the long tube header for the 2.4 has gone the way of the dinasaur?  Have been looking around for a supplier with no such luck.  Contacted Stainless Works but doesn't look like they make theirs anymore.  Just curious if anyone might have any leads for this item?  If not I will go with the Shorty.
Thanks, Cmccomb1   :poke:

You might also try Dan Ferraro at Clear Image Automotive out in Kent, Washington. He would custom make one, he has at least two different long tube designs for the Solstice as well as a short tube header.

Thanks, DaveOC, I went to his site and saw the tri-y header.  Just sent him an email to see if anything is still available!

Please do me a favor and report back if he'll do one for you.  DDM doesn't have the long tube header on his site any more, at least I couldn't find it there.

Thanks.

I talked with Dan at Clear Image Automotive.  He said that he doesn't have the long tube header anymore and the best bang for the buck was the shorty header with stock cat converter.  I told him  I was looking for a long tube header to compliment the power range when I have a supercharger installed from Dave at DDM.  He told me he could still build one if that is what I wanted.  I'm now waiting on his reply and price.

I was thinking that Solo had one but not long tube.

Yes Sly Bob you are correct!  They no longer carry the long tube only the shorty.  I talked to Jeff at Solo Performance and he said for what I want to do he would recommend the long tube over the shorty.  He said it would have better air flow through the entire power range.  Therefore still looking.  I have also been in touch with DDM Dave.

DaveOC, I just found out that Dan Ferraro at Clear Image Automotive has contacted DDM Dave and is going to start making long tube headers again for our Solstice's.  He had asked me why I didn't try to get one from DDM Works, so I told him it was no longer offered.  Here is the last two emails I just got from Dan

#1:
It actually isn't as hard as you may think.   We have our other Solstice
reference points but with a slightly different tube size.    I am going to
call DDM tomorrow and see if they are interested in getting their header
back into production.   Something had to have happened for them to stop
offering it.  So hold off for a couple days on making any decisions.    I
have been wanting to get back into the Solstice market and this may be a good opportunity.

#2:
I just spoke with Dave at DDM.   We are going to work together to bring back
the long tube header he was offering.

Sounds like DDM Dave will be back in the long tube header business!  Good news for the 2.4 Sol!!  :yay:  :tool:

I'm glad I dug Dan's Clear Image Automotive up out of my memory. Woo Hoo! Dan has always done really fine work, and his headers were works of art.  I'm glad he and Dave are going to bring back the long tube header.

Thanks for following up this opportunity!

Dave

Realize this is an old post, but if you are still looking for a long tube header, I have one.  Once I pull the trigger on a Hahn turbo kit, I'll be getting rid of my long tube header.  Just letting you know just in case...Healix.

Healix, you might consider posting a new "For Sale" thread in the classified section.

Question, long tube headers and turbo don't mix?  BTW, 2.4 right?

Thanks Sly Bob.  I will have to do that once I get the turbo.  I'll also have a few other things to offer (cat back exhaust, fenders, rear fascia, chrome wheels).
