Topic: Saab hub bearing?

Does anyone know if the front hub bearing from a saab 9-3 would work on a solstice? They are nearly the same dimensions and would allow for the use of lug bolts rather than extended studs and open ended nuts when using spacers.

The dimensions are rounded on the solstice page and the only major difference is the flange offset (By about 1/8 inch or 3mm), whatever that means...

I don't believe the question has been asked before but it would be interesting to see what you find out. We know the bolt pattern would be the same. Perhaps you can buy one locally and see if it fits.

Another question may be whether or not the ABS reluctor wheels are the same specs between the two.  Wouldn't surprise me if they are, but it's something else to consider...

Also, the flange offset might help you in that it'll essentially act as a 3mm spacer, if I understand correctly:

The Hub Pilot diameter of the Saab part is .04" larger than the Sky/Solstice part. If that is referring to the diameter of the hub pilot that fits into the upright then it likely won't fit. I suppose the upright could me machined to enlarge it slightly, but that would not be cheap unless you know someone with the right gear to do it. There is enough difference in the flange offset to cause an issue as well.

My advice is to buy longer studs, or try these out and let us know how it goes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It almost looks like they rounded the figures for the solstice page to tenths of an inch, and the Saab ones to hundredths which means that they may actually be the exact same dimension.

I already have extended studs on order, but I'm worried about them being so long that I need open ended lugs. I don't mind that look on my race car, but not on the Solstice.

I may go to a parts store and see if they'd let me compare the two of them before buying.

You could just cut the wheel studs to the right length and use closed lugs.
