Questions on Trifecta e47 tune
« on: July 19, 2018, 12:20:36 PM »
So I've loved the budget trifecta tune....It's added a ton of fun to the car.  That said, I want to up the fun by switching to e47.

I was under the assumption that if I got a trifecta e47 tune it would be switchable (meaning if I couldn't find a station with e47 I could switch to gasoline).  I messaged trifecta yesterday with questions and a guy named Michael told me that if I get the e47 tune it is basically the ENTIRE tune.  I can't just hit the traction button or cruise control and switch to gas.

I'm wondering for those who have used the Trifecta....What did you do if you drove to a place that didn't have ethanol?  He mentioned I would have to reflash the car back to gasoline.  So if I get the e47 tune where would I find the stock tune to flash it back to?

Just a tad confused with this.  Also, did anyone get a Trifect e47 tune that was switchable (meaning...turn competition mode on and it's e47 turn it off and it's stock)?

Sounds like a hassle and it would be better to get with a competent tuner to get it dialed in using HPTuners for you. If you get that, then you can change tunes any time you want. I'm pretty local to you, I have an HPTuner unlocked for 2009's that I need to sell if you are interested.

That's ok.  I'm going to stick with the trifecta.  I have absolutely NO desire to get hptuners.  If you have a sky or solstice we should meet up though since we are so close.

I believe all Trifecta tunes reside in a place in the computer other than the other tunes, including the HP stuff, so you can only have one Trifecta tune and would need another basic tune to switch back to.

I happen to have the GMPP as underlying tune but there is no reason you couldn't get an HP tune that does the same thing as the basic Trifecta, except that it installs over whatever basic tune you have now, then add the E47 Trifecta  on top of that. Then when you switched off the Trifecta E47 tune you would default to the HP underlying tune.

That would do exactly what you want, wouldn't it?

Not really.

Right now I have a stock tune, and then can switch using my traction control (by making it competition mode) to my Trifecta tune.  According to Michael, If I get the E47 tune then it would take the place of the stock gas tune as well and would be on all of the time.  I couldn't switch back and forth using the traction control.  The only thing I could do would be to hook up my laptop and reflash it back to stock to run gas again.  That seems crazy to me.

It's also why I was asking people with a Trifecta E47 tune if they had to reflash back to stock to run gas or if they could switch using traction control between stock and the E47 tune.

You are saying that they can't make the E47 tune switchable? Wonder why not.

Yup exactly!  However, that's what this Michael guy said.

I wanted to make sure that is actually accurate so that's why I'm asking folks who have the e47 if it's switchable.  Doesn't look like anyone who has/had one is still on here though.

I guess not, I don't remember there being many that ran E47 to begin with and of those I thought most used HP tuners.  The ability to easily change between tunes with a lap top might have been why they went that way vs Trifecta.

Almost everyone here used HPTuners and either used Westers or DDM tunes.  Some tuned themselves.
