Ah I see now.  I misread what you were saying...So the diff isn't 3000 it's 1875.  I'm paying my mechanic $1,000 to install it.

So basically the 9 inch diff or whatever is like 5 times the amount of this new replacement.  Not even in the same area code in cost.  I think paw want $5500 for their ford 9 inch conversion.

I was reading both threads.

Responded in the diff thread about the diff cost.
My mind works in weird ways.

Correct, the 9" is considerably more. However, I was talking about my case, if the Camaro starts eating stock diffs I intend to bite the bullet and upgrade. Yes, it's double the cost, but vs. the cost of destroying and replacing a second "stock" diff...

I should also point out that my Camaro is being upgraded around robustness. I have and will continue to add power mods, but most of my money so far has gone to making sure that power doesn't break anything. Kinda boring, and definitely less fun than spending the money on speed parts, but that's my plan.

Boring but a good process in the correct order.

I've only ever snapped an axle on mine, but I've got a girdle and a diff cooler with a pump & fan on there, seems to be holding together.

Is that a diy girdle?  I'd like to do something here preemptively before running drag radials on my car.

Yeah. Wish it had been off the shelf... but off the shelf isn't really a thing for much on these cars.

Haven't really investigated, but it'd be cool if there were a way to do the torque arm with a T-56 on top of having the girdle.

So I got my new diff put in, and took ONLY ONE pic of the old one.  I didn't want too many memories from this damn diff!  Anyway here is the pic of the old diff Steelmesh wanted to see.

Anyway....This shows the case exploded near where the bracket for the torque arm to bolt onto the Diff is.  There didn't appear to be  any internal damage, so it basically is just a failure of the case itself!

I also found the following thread from blackbirdracing in which he talks about the fact that his 2007 redline had the diff case explode and also his dad's 2007 redline had the diff case explode.

http://www.kappaperformance.com/forum/index.php/topic,10742.0.html

Kind of wierd that the same thing happened to me and without internal damage.  I also haven't found information about any 2008 and up kappas that have had the diff case explode with no internal damage.

Maybe there is a flaw with the diffs that came in 2007 kappas...
