Hello from Central Florida
« on: May 01, 2020, 10:51:51 AM »
Hello everyone, I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Taylor and I recently purchased my 07 Solstice with the 2.4l LE5 motor with just over 50k miles. Unfortunately, I got her at the beginning of March and went away on business for a week and when I came back, Florida had been shut down for COVID19. Hopefully I will get to really drive her soon.

This is my first car with a manual transmission which was very important when searching. It wasn't easy test driving, not even the dealer knew how to drive stick. Fortunately, I've been riding my motorcycle for a few years so I was able to take what I knew from that and figure it out in a day.

I don't know how much I will post since you guys have pretty much pioneered most of what can be done with these cars. I've lurked for a while but figured it was time to introduce myself.

I don't have many plans for the 07 right now, but would like to try to get the acceleration to feel a bit more snappy. Ironically, my '15 focus feels WAY faster, the only problem is, the roof isn't supposed to come off on the focus!

Hey, welcome to the forum! There are lots of go fast bits out there, or an all out V8 swap won't have you looking back except to see where the folks went that were following you a few minutes ago.

This will fix the roof on the Focus.    :poke:

Welcome to the forum, and is not the go fast it how it handles, however Florida does not have twisty roads which is where it shines.

Welcome to the forum, the cheapest way is an electronic tune, the most expensive is a V8 swap.  There are many, many places in between.  Go to the DDMworks web site and drool.

Welcome to the forum

This is how so many highly modded cars start out around here.  Have fun, were here to help spend your money just ask whatever questions you might have.

Critterman did you ever get that acceleration where you wanted it?  I'm sure the Lambo doors made all the difference.

Lambo doors didn't help, neither did all the sound dreading we put in it.  But the stage III did help make it quicker.

Welcome to the forum.  I think you're right with the motorcycle clutch experience helping, my first car was a manual and I picked it up right away, never stalled it for the longest time.

The 2.4 is almost as snappy as it will get, you may want to look into a tune, I hear it will help with the low end throttle response but not peak hp.   You could build a turbo kit or supercharger kit using used GM factory components cheaper than buying a good exhaust and CAI for the N/A 2.4L ecotec.  Adding 100 hp over 10 hp for the same cost is so worth it.

- You can bolt on components from an LSJ 2.0 (M62 supercharger) from a Cobalt SS/Redline
- You can bolt on components from an LNF 2.0 (K04 turbocharger) from a Cobalt SS/Redline, Solstice/Sky
