Fender repair
« on: December 29, 2020, 09:15:45 PM »
Now that my 09 evening blue redline is in hibernation for winter, I’m planning to remove both fenders and have them patched on the bottom - then painted if necessary.   Can anyone recommend a body repair shop in the NY metro area that has experience with this?   I’d be willing to ship them as well.  Thanks.

Aren't Shiny and Reedred in that area?  They could probably recommend a shop.

What is wrong with them?  Got any photos?

Just wondering if replacement is easier than repair.

Cracked on the very bottom with drivers side missing a small one inch triangle piece of fender plastic. Not visible from the side, but if you stick your hand up under the bottom of the fender you can feel small cracks.   Cracks have not spread up into the side of the fender, and I’m trying to make sure that does not happen.

Sorry if I missed it - but Sky not Solstice, right? Sky had fiberglass fenders, Solstice had metal if I recall correctly.

Fiberglass repair will be a different shop from standard body shop.

I wonder if Norm's fiberglass would be willing to fix them.  Are they still a vendor here?  I suppose I could look.

He's still listed under the vendors you might check it out.

Great option!  He also has all the paint codes.  If these are Sky fenders, that is a solid lead.

I’ll check it out.  Norm seems to be focused on selling new parts, but I’ll ask.  I’m told that the Sky fenders are some kind of plastic, not fiberglass, which seems to turn off some of the corvette body shops I have called.   Maybe I should try to patch them myself.  I know there’s at least one video out there.  It doesn’t look impossible.
