Welcome the new guy!
« on: June 16, 2021, 09:03:50 PM »
Greetings, all! New to the Kappa world after many, many years building and enjoying G Bodies (Grand Nationals and Turbo Regals). This far, I'm very, very impressed with this platform.

We just picked up a 2007 Sky Redline, yellow in color and badass in attitude. Time to play.....  :)

GN /Turbo Regal is such a fun straight-line platform.

Kappa is going to be quicker, WAY more nimble, but MUCH smaller.  Also - if you are used to the turbo lag in the GN, the kappa is going to seem boring.  Power comes on fairly smooth compared to the GN.  I do love the 80s turbo lag tho....

nothing
nothing
nothing
BOOOOOOOMMMMM

So much fun. and so terrible at the same time.
Make the right choices now

Agreed on the lack of lag vs the 3.8 turbo. I did come one a great combination to minimize lag- good heads, a mid sized turbo with mid stall converter, and a Ford Powerstroke intercooler (1999-2003 models only). the last car I built was 550hp/650 tq at the wheels, daily driven. Good times!

After 2 months, I can say that the Sky Redlin is the perfect vehicle for us, flaws and all! A few upgrades made good great:

  • Kenwood touchscreen radio with wireless Carplay and backup camera
  • Michelin Pilot Sport AS4 tires
  • DDM brace kit

The acid test was a 600 mile weekend road trip with my wife. When I got the car, she was not exactly a fan, but was happy because I got what I wanted. During our road trip, she stated "we're gonna have to get you another car for the winter, cause this car is NEVER getting sold!"...she got bit by the Kappa bug!

Game- set- match!
