New (ish) Owner of an Important Kappa
« on: December 22, 2021, 12:25:38 PM »
My name is Mike and I recently bought a significant 2006 Solstice.

A few of the veteran members may remember me from the early days of development at DDMWorks as there is a good chance we chatted on the phone or met at the shop.

The car is way more relevant to the story. My Solstice belonged to my best friend, Randy Carter, who is no longer with us. He bought the car the same day my son was born and drove it to hospital to show it off. I got to see his new edition and he welcomed my new edition into the world.

Randy originally took it to DDM in search of new suspension. Once Dave drove the Solstice, other plans formed. This Kappa was the initial R&D vehicle for all of the super fun goodies produced by DDMWorks.

It is with great joy that I can honor my best friend by curating his favorite ride. There were many greats memories made and many more to come. The Solstice has arrived at it's forever home and will be passed to my son when the time comes.

Feel free to post up any pics or memories of Randy in this thread. Glad to be here and look forward to contributing.

Welcome to the forum, I never got to meet Randy but having been on these forums pretty much from the beginning I knew of him and his work with DDM.  I have seen many pictures of that car over the years.  Good to see it will be looked after by someone that will take care of it.

SA, you didn't meet Randy at one of Joe's Mod Meets?  I know he was at (at least) one in 2010 - he installed my probeam and backbone there.

The first mod meet I attended was when Elff got the new turbo and then got a speeding ticket.  I seem to recall Dave had a "Rookie" with him that year.  Was that also the year we brought Kelu over?

I looked back at the posts, it was in 2011 and it was the same one that Kelu first attended.

What I can say is, no picture exists showing Randy and I in the same place at the same time?. So, take that for what it?s worth?

Glad the car will be loved and cherished!  I?m pretty sure I?ve seen the car, and maybe even been in it. Glad it found home.

After that challenge, I went through my old Mod Meet photos.  Sure enough - I couldn't find any of Randy with GJ.  BUT!  Then I found this pic, and GJ isn't there either, yet we all know these two did have contact!

But here's one, that GJ was in...

Did you notice GJ really likes to use question marks all over his posts?

Ihawk is in that pic too, just to the right of Kenny.

Dee is next to Joe,

Who is to the left of GJ?

Randy fixed my trunk at nationals.  Great guy.  Enjoy the car and thanks for the trip down memory lane.

T.S.  Your Other Left.

Kelu was to the right of GJ.  I am asking about the person in the red shirt who was to the left of GJ,  The right of Wartie and above iHawk
