Favorite modifications that make driving fun
« on: December 14, 2008, 06:02:39 PM »
I was thinking of the mods I have had Deep do to my car and which ones really made driving fun.  I decided to make a top 5 list.

1.  Lambo Doors
2.  Kenwood headunit, with bluetooth, sirius, backup camera, MP3, DVD player and tuner
3.  Solo mach exhaust    I love the sound as it reminds me of my old TR4
4.  Windrestrictor with purple back light and TimeBandit decal
5.  Seat padding JPM modification, makes the seat comfortable and eliminates sagging

We have only one modification to "Miss Red Eagle" and that is a custom Italian black leather padded Center Console with red diamond stitch that Joe at JPM accessories. com added to our 2007 Aggressive GXP.  We attended the National Meet in Nashville and won a $100.00 gift certificate from JPM that helped with the cost of having this addition added to our baby.  Believe me, that padding makes all the difference in the world, especially on long trips.  I would recommend it to one and all.  Totally satisfied.  As for further Mods.  I think we are good to go, as it is!

The only thing that I have done to my '07 GXP was to add a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS).  I know that a TPMS became standard on later model cars but those of us that ordered early missed that improvement.  From what I understand though the factory TPMS doesn't have all the features that my after market one does.  I really like being able to see what the pressure and temp is.  I never really knew just how much those two things change and how you as the driver can affect them with your manor of driving.  Its also a huge plus to have a multi stage alarm to let you know you have a pressure loss and what the rate of loss is especially on a car with little side walls on the tires and no spare.

Speaking of no spare did anyone else besides me throw one of those self sealing tire plug kits in their trunk just in case?  I figure a real puncture would never get sealed with that fix a flat thing the cars come with.  Besides this only cost like $5 and if I needed it and it worked how could I go wrong?  The real nice thing with the kit I got was that it is about the same size as the styrofoam block that the compressor set in so I just extended the strap a little in order to cinched down the plug kit too.

Yes, I have a repair kit in my trunk.

As to 2, it is the Kenwood 5120 with added modules for the things listed.  There is a thread on the big old original forum under audio on how the install was done.

As to 5, Joe at JPM held a class in Ky and in Md on how to to add padding in appropriate places to fix the seat problem.  It is manufactured with a dip in it where your but goes and apparently this is either done incorrectly or the material is not the best for this function.  Anyway it involved adding multiple layers of quality foam and sanding them done with a special home made tool.

Total cost was 15 bucks and time to do it with Joe's help was about 1/2 hour.

I've done way more to this car than I ever thought I would.
1--The Tune from Wester's has got to be the best.
2--The doors are cool, but I bent a fender while installing the hinges. (Maybe new fenders are in the works)
3--The JPM seat pad mod makes it more comfortable on those long drives to meets.
4--The new mirror makes driving at night easier.
5--All the bling that makes it even more of a head turner.

Mysterious Lightside GXP. Driving like there's no tomorrow.

Darn, I forgot the auto dim mirror, I need to add that.  The only reason I did not list Westers tune was because I am going to add the GM tune and then eventually the new Westers tune that will make the GM tune really hum.
