Ever seen a rusty Solstice or Sky?
« on: May 04, 2024, 09:02:43 AM »
I was reading an ad earlier today for a Solstice that was for sale in which they stated that the car had no rust. Now I'll be the first to admit that my 16 year old Solstice is a but of a garage queen but she DOES have about 60,000 miles on her.

Has anyone seen a rusty Solstice or Sky? There are a couple around here that get driven year round but I can't say I've noticed one of them to be rusty.

Ok, you got me there.  There is corrosion under the chrome coating for the rims, not rust

Yeah winter driving is hard on the rims. My other car has polished rims and although they don't look bad for a 10 year old car they're corroded as well under the clear coat in places. Good news at least is they still are holding air well.

Oops, sorry about that   :D, yep that was probably my fault. We had a rash of accounts a month or so being opened from Russia and I spent way too much time trying to ban all the IP addresses from the area. You (and maybe others?) must have gotten caught up in that.

As far as life goes John I'm doing well thanks. As you might know my wife passed away nearly 18 months ago from Alzheimers and finally a stroke. I've since met a new lady who's just amazing and I'm having the time of my life, life is good!

Mine had some on the underside when I sold it back in 2011. Keep in mind, I drove that thing daily rain or shine, and it saw plenty of snow use too.

Yeah although mine is a bit of a garage queen there's a little surface rust on any bare metal under there like cut threads and so forth. Generally though rust doesn't seem to be too much of a problem, That said, most modern cars these days are pretty mush rust free unless there's beed some sort of body damage that exposes bare metal.

Wow, look at all of us getting together to talk about rust. My 06' has minimal on the undercarriage, the 08' is pretty spotless. I don't drive either one very much anymore.

Maybe we should get together to talk about other things. :drive:
Don't drive it much? What the...?   I don't drive as much as I once did, I took a bit of a break from it after my wife passed but now that the weather is good and I have a new woman in my life I find myself using it more.
