I have actually said that when my daughter was dating.  Did not work out well as she is still mad at me.

Well no wonder she is mad, you were supposed to tell that to the boyfriend not the daughter.

  That's classic!!

Plus, what Chuck actually said to his daughter was "I have a 45, a shovel, and someone to dig a hole for me, They'll never find you"

I suspect that maybe he told her that she would have to dig the hole and he would find someone to fill it in.

I'm glad that Chuck is such a good sport about this.

Wow, now that's pretty close to the truth.  Especial thanks to all my solstice friends that worked this weekend to help me finish the basement.  Next week we will have a drywalling and electrical instalation party for even more fun.  Nobody will be turned away from working.

Thanks to Grant, Judy, Dee, Joey (Darktech, he hates to be called Joey but I love him anyway), Grant, Jon, Chris and especially my BFF Joe (Deepbluegxp).

Lots of laughs and hard work but the framing is finally done!

We all worked our asses off last weekend.  The electrical and drywall is the easy part.  See you Friday.  I'll get Tim to bring the doors and parts tomorrow.

I probably won't be there, I should have cut my grass last weekend and didn't, all the rain didn't help.  Anyone have a goat I can borrow.

I also need to get up on my roof and clean my gutters before they come down.  Depending on the weather, I might be able to get it done before the weekend.

I assume that you need the goat for your lawn but then you know what it means to assume right?

I stopped leaving my registration in my car when thieves did exactly what was stated to my brother.
They stole his car.  It was recovered, but his personal information was on the registration.
They came back and stole the car out of his garage.

I carry that in my wallet now.
Nice to know the NRA are all terrorists [Including myself]
Thanks for posting that Chuck, I'm shocked but not surprised.

Good call on the registration, when I park in suspect areas I'll pocket all that paperwork.

I wonder if the burnt gunpowder scent that perpetually lingers in my car would serve as a deterrent...

Of course, if I lived in a CCW state I'd just slap a NRA or one of those "Insured by HK" stickers on the back of the car and call it good enough.

Ah, pretty dumb thieves if they just can not open glove box and read the address on the registration.

This is why, for many years now, I have placed my registration docs in some hidden spot somewhere in my car other than the glove box.  By instinct or habit, most people would reach for the glove box for the registration & insurance cards and would come up empty in my cars.  If the thief can't produce the docs for law enforcement it may create a situation where they will be identified and/or arrested while in posession of a stolen car.  At the same time I, and every driver in the household, know exactly where the docs are hidden and can readily produce them for law enforcement personnel.

Hint:  Place the docs in a zip lock baggie and think trunk cubby holes, engine bay, under carpets, under floor mats, under the dash, voids in doors, etc.

Yeh... and cops LOVE it when you're unpredictable.  Keeps 'em on their toes!  :D

Seriously, be sure you and your family members know to TELL the cop where you are going to reach for your registration docs BEFORE you start going for it under the seat, etc.

Roger that!! I've told them all and it's usually not a problem.  I've also taught everyone that if they are stopped at night to pull over in a safe area/position, stop the motor, turn on the interior dome lights, and sit still with hands on the steering wheel until the officer appears at the window and can see what you are doing.  Seems to keep everybody a little calmer and relaxed.

Two short stories:

a. I was was stopped at one of those license/insurance road blocks once and I told the cop that I had to go to my trunk to get my paper work.  She looked at me a little funny and I quickly added that I keep the paper work in the truck so thieves don't know where to look.  She kind of chuckled and waved me on.

b.  My college aged daughter was stopped by a small town policeman 4-5 years ago for "passing a police officer" (:bs: no such law in this state).  He was in the right lane at 5 under the speed limit, she passed him on the left at the speed limit.  He pulled her over and when she told him that she would have to exit the vehicle to retrieve the registration he then chewed her out and told her she was violating state law because she didn't have the papers in the glove box (more :bs: no such law in this state).  She did the correct thing, didn't argue with this guy, and he eventually told her he was going to let her go with a warning.  I told her not to sweat it, he had no violation to write in the first place, and he was either stopping her to investigate an out-of-town car or he wanted a closer look at one of the four coeds in the car. :D

Wow!  Sounds like that dude that pulled your daughter over was striaght out of 'Super Troopers' the movie.  I'd want his badge number to talk to his shift sup about harassment if it was my kid...

2kwk4u:

That only works in a big city.  In small town Robertsdale, AL this one cop was probably the entire shift!!

Since this thread has already been hijacked...

Small town cop story :

Came out of parking lot sideways, tires squealing, smoke everywhere.  Never saw the cop coming over the hill.  I never went over the speed limit and he flew past me in the smoke thinking I took off.  He actually had to stop and wait for me to pass by him to pull me over.  I know I was dead and pulled off main road on a side street.  Followed all the rules, car off, hands on stearing wheel...  He was  .  When he asked for my lic and reg he said
"Are you Kate's son?"  Then I really new I was dead.  Instead of writing me a ticket, he called my MOTHER!  That's a small town cop for you!  It's a funny story now, but then, whew, I took a beating!   :bdh:
