I "LOVE" these shoes!  I HATE wearing shoes anyway, period and these give me the barefoot feel I love.  And I drove a truck tonight, so not bad on the driving either.

But hey, $15!

Just bought these...

https://www.ogracing.com/catalog/1-Driver/25-Shoes/item-1778-LICO-LOW-FIRE-DRIVING-SHOE

Wore these for the first time today.  Really liked them for the autocross.  Could feel the pedals better and no worries about the top of the sole of my show catching the underside of the brake pedal (happens sometimes to me with my sneakers).  BUT, driving to the autocross, I found them scary for heel and toe.  My car came with the fancy sport pedals, part rubber strips and part chrome.  When I when to heel and toe, these narrower shoes slipped off the chrome edge.  I corrected by putting more of my foot on the brake pedal but that made heel and toe more challenging.  So, I have to figure out if I can teach myself better or want to go back to sneakers or replace the brake pedal cover with the standard all rubber.  I am leaning towards the latter but would like to hear what others think.

I would get different pedal covers. I have the Autovation ones. Like them. Overpriced for sure. (100 bucks) I think kappasphere sells them, and PFYC (sponsor on the BB)

autovation.net

Looks to me if you search around, there's TONs of stuff like this out there for even cheaper. Though Autovation cuts a set custom for you so you can ask for different sized pedals if you want.

They also gave me spacers to make my brake pedal fatter, all the info I have is in my thread here.

Those are not slippery, especially when wet?  What gives the grip?  Are those holes rougher edges than they look?

The grip is in the raised edges of the holes and the raise edge of the pedal. They are so sharp you can just about cut your finger on them. Sometimes my foot gets stuck on the brake pedal they grip so much :)

Thanks!  Nobody brought me the speedo suit as promised though.  :(  I more than likely would have put them on, too! heheh

Hmmm... not sure that is a good thing either.  I'm thinking of just going back to the plain old rubber pedal covers.

Ah...I see.  Will have to think on this.  I also switched the pedal discussion to your pedal thread so I would stop hijacking this one.

Since my Pilotis have been started to get pretty ragged, I bought a new pair of driving shoes. This time, I opted to try some from a shoe company owned by some guy called Ken Block.

DC Shoes Pro Spec 2.0 Driving Shoes

A far more "normal" shoe than the clownish Pilotis. This is my second day wearing them, and they do just as good as the Pilotis mixing driving and walking. The sole on the ball of the foot is incredibly thin and flexible, (after being broken in some) so pedal feel is drastically improved over the Pilotis. Yet the arch and heel is very supportive, running around shagging cones isn't going to be a bother.

When these wear out I'm not trying any other brand, DC shoes scored with these as far as I'm concerned.

Cool. I like the Green pilotis but they take a lot of time to break in.

I'm just going to get a pair of wrestling shoes for the track days.

My pilotis broke in to the point that they were comfy, but never to the point that I could feel the pedals through the sole. This is day 2 of wearing these shoes and they are already markedly more flexible than they were new.

I should add that I wore my Pilotis every day, and these will see the same use. (Though without the weird looks and questions my Pilotis would attract...)

I wore my Pilotis out very fast because I walk at least a mile a day in the city which wore them down quickly. But now they almost have holes in the heels, so definitely not too happy with them.

I have another pair which are great for walking too which I use when I make long trips and they are more firmer:

Now I plan to buy Adidas Porsche which looks to me just the newer version of my brown ones:
(Attachment Link)
These costs around 140$ around here, I planned to buy them 2 months ago but I didn't succeed until now  :'(
Mission accomplished, found the new version at a discounted price of 110$ (90$ in US) and I jumped on them.
