We talked with our fabricator and came up with a crazy price for the backbones, we are running the largest batch we have ever ran and were able to get the prices for the backbones really, really low on this batch. These are the same backbones that we have been selling in the past, made from 6061-T6 aluminum and unlike other braces, ours is powdercoated red to keep them looking good for the life of your car .

1/4" Street Backbone - $99
3/8" Race Backbone - $144  :yay:

You can order on our website here:

http://www.ddmworks.com/solstice/suspension/backbone_brace.htm

or give us a call at 864-907-6004 to order or if you have any questions.

Thanks again,
Dave

WOW I better order one, oh wait I already have one, damn. I will say at this price for those of you that made your own and have a GXP with a Wester's tune you might want to upgrade to the thicker one for this price, there is a reason Dave and Randy made a thicker one in the first place.

1/4" Street Backbone - $89
3/8" Race Backbone - $124  :yay:

Those are amazing prices.   Anyone who drives their Sky or Solstice for pleasure, and doesn't take advantage of this offer, well you are nuts!  The performance difference for tight cornering is amazing.  I had mine done at the Texas Mod Meet for the normal pricing and I could not be happier!

Competion or not I will never buy from somanabytch  as I don't like his attitude.

I'm still a chump.  Of course I bought the thicker 3/8" race version . . . .  The price dropped within hours of my installing it. . . . But I'll get over it.

I still mean everything I said in previous posts.

In the "trade" this is what is called "tortured reasoning"

Let me explain:  if you bought the item at the original price it means (1) after careful thought you decided the benefit you
would derive was worth the cost...good for you...you're a thoughtful shopper, or (2) when you bought the item you knowingly made a poor decision...if that's the case you have only yourself to blame.

The fact that the price dropped, perhaps due to market conditions changing, should have no impact on (1) or (2).

My own decision falls under (1)...and I have no regrets.  Nor would I seek to disparage anyone else for the outcome of the exercise of my own free will.

If you read Dave's post he states that they are having a larger number of backbones produced by their supplier.  As most anything is less expensive when purchased in large quantities, it only stands to reason that the decrease in cost is due to the increased interest by Sol/Sky owners and is thus allowing Dave to speculate and purchase/have manufactured a greater volume than he has been able to do previously.

I have had many dealings with Randy and Dave - these are two of finest businessmen you could ever hope to do business with.  The original prices were reflective of the cost incurred.

Basic business sense would dictate that reasoning for the decrease in costs Dave has offered to Kappa enthusiasts.

That's my  :2c: ... and as has been stated before - reputable, honest, enthusiastic vendors are who will get my hard earned money.  Oft times less expensive is NOT the best way to go.

Nor would I seek to disparage anyone, not in the "trade," who feels a pang of . . .d'uoh!!. . . after watching the market price of something they just purchased plummet.

What's a forum for if not to vent?

Oh, by all means, vent away! No problem...  What I meant was, rationalizing one's own less-than perfect decision by
claiming the product was "overpriced" in the first place (not you) is what a psychologist (the "trade") would call
tortured reasoning (in other words, it isn't DDM's fault).

Most of these specialty items for our cars are in my view overpriced.  But that is the price you pay for low volume niche products.  Each of us must decide if it is worth it to them.  Some things are more important to me than others.  I always felt the Backbone was a bit overpriced for what it was and that was what kept me from purchasing it up to this point - though, I knew I would at some point.  Now that I have a choice at a lower price, the time will be sooner rather than later.  I'm waiting to see pictures on the newcomer.

Actually, what's emerging here is an example of the benefits of competition.  The consumer now has a greater choice of products (powder coated vs. non) and lower prices.

I think what we are seeing is the benefits of increased production of a successful product, Dave and Randy certainly did not want to have a 1000 backbones made up and then they not sell, also in case you haven't noticed everyone is hurting for work and I imagine the shop dropped there price too. I paid a HELLUVA lot more for my GXP than I can but one now for, by several thousand dollars, and there is no competition, just lower prices do to reduced demand and increased supply, and a lousy economy. "The sweet taste of a better deal is long gone after the bitter taste of poor quality sets in" , I will stick with the innovator with a proven track record.
