Now that the group buy has eneded, I want to thank everyone that got in on it, we were able to get past the 8 required to get the best price to everyone. I will be PMing everyone this afternoon and will get information from everyone that ordered and have VDI ship the kits directly out to everyone that is not having us do the install.

Thanks again,
Dave

Man I missed my chance again, dang it! If I hadn't wasted my money on the HKS coilovers I could have gotten lambo doors.

Thank you Chemist, yes that was a sarcastic comment. As was the very first post of this thread, I have very bad arthritis in my hips and when I tried to get in and out of Joe's car after he had the lambo door's installed it was very difficult for me, so I pretty much can not get them. The sarcasm is that I have always placed performance mods far ahead of the pretty ones, not that I don't like and want some of them. I can not afford to do both, so performance wins most of the time. I did just spend some money on a useless mod, I will be installing color match door handles. I have always hated the chrome door handles! Mostly I was just messing with Dave, or Dr. Love as I call him, he already knows about me and the doors.

I wanted to thank Dave for putting together this group and installing mine at the Mod Meet.  He pulled some strings to ensure mine showed up on time and I highly appreciate it.

I got to witness first hand the amount of work that goes into installing Vertical Doors.

First Up, the SKy's have some advantages over the Solstice in regards to cutting/trimming.
On the SKy, the quarter panel is Fiberglass and not metal.  Second, for some reason, the Sky's hood does not require any modification at all.  The solstice requires that a square patch be cut to clear the hinge when the hood is closed.
As such, there is no need to get touch up paint for the sky's body color, but you will need some black paint to paint the support for the quarter panel.  Other than that, the install is the same.

The install, even with some cutting, is not invasive at all.  I can say that it is very tedious and takes a Looooooooooooooooooong time.  3-5 hrs is normal.
The time comes into play when the installer is lining up the door and checking for clearance.  A lot of little tweaks need to be done so that everything works smoothly, does not have the door contact the hood and everything lines up.  I was blown away with how exact and perfect Dave@DDM and Joe[DeepBlueGXP] were in their adjustments.  This level of detail had my PinStripes EXACTLY aligned by the time the install was completed and they were not even using that as a gauge.

So Bottom line is this.
The Price of Install is worth every Penny!!!

Voila

Yea it is very labor intensive and both Joe and Dave are perfectionist, that is why I like them working on my car.

Got mine and installed them.  Bought the VDI kit for 950.00. on Ebay.  People should check and make offers on Ebay.  Same kit less money!! Save a couple hundred bucks. :-)

Only issue with Ebay is you don't get the fantastic DDM Works support or any support for that matter.

While it is great you saved a couple of hundred bucks on Ebay, you are missing the big picture.   Companies like our vendors of which DDMWorks is one are working on a very limited customer base, and if those customers go somewhere else to purchase items cheaper, we won't have a vendors left to build specific items for our rides.

If that couple of hundred I would have saved, helps companies like DDMWorks develop new items for our cars, then I consider that money well spent.   Just sometning to think about.  :2c:

Leather your car looks fantastic!! What part of Alberta are you from?  If you're sort of local to me, I'd like to see your doors live if possible.  I'm seriously debating doing these on my car, but I've only ever seen pictures and would really prefer to try them out first.

Let me know if you're in the Edmonton area?  If you're shy or don't want your location known on the internet, you can send me a private message here.

Thanks!

Leather,

Big mistake telling KWhale where you live.  He will take your hinges without you even noticing!  You'll go to open your door one day and boom, it will just fall to the ground.  He can't be trusted!  However, he has never seen another solstice in person, so maybe if you keep an eye on him, he could live a life long dream of seeing another Kappa.

He knows where I live and yet he has never been here, I feel so dejected. :(

From his descriptions of Tilley it sounds like he has been here though.

SA,
you should know better.  He isn't allowed to leave Canada.  Remember the rules of his "perdicament"?  Can't go out of the country, can't order a bacon cheese burger and can't eat spam...  There is just no way he could get to your house without the RCMP finding out.
