A small emergency (need some quick advice and help)
« on: May 15, 2009, 07:14:03 PM »
Hey all i have a bit of an emergency,

i went for a drive and on our local highway hit a longateded metal strap on the road, some how it punctured two of my tires(passenger front and rear) not a big deal because there the crappy stock tires,

i have my new wheels and tires at home (konig again 5's in opel with nitto invo's) i pulled the car over to the side of the road where a local farmer has a stable, he said i can keep the car there till morning and come back in the morning and pick it up, here is my dilemma

i do not have jack pads to jack the car up on, only a jack, and being it is the long weekend (memorial day) the only thing that is open is our local canadian tire store(general automotive and hardware store) how can i safely jack this car up without using those infamous jack pads everyone talks about, is there something i can use or improvise from my local hardware store? or is there another solution anyone knows about?

how 'bout a piece of 2 x 4, like, so it's square, and not round, but I've used my floor jack with no pucks with no problem as well  :idk:

No joke intended but how about using a hockey puck on top of a normal jack?  When I needed to jack up my Kappa I just used a floor jack and a small block of wood placed over the saddle of the jack.

I've never used anything, just the jack.  I just make sure I center it around that little hole down there and I make sure to not place it in a spot where it can damage the body panels.

I've used the 2x4 and the hockey pucks, both worked great.  I usually use the 2x4 now, because I can never seem to find the pucks.  That may have something to do with being an old blind goalie though.

PS - If we're posting pics here, I'm going to go find some contest pics and post em here for you......AH MY EYES...MY EYES!!!
