Opel GT from Romania (EU) signing on
« on: May 28, 2009, 08:18:43 AM »
Hello everyone,

My name is Augustin, 30 male from Eastern Europe - Romania owner of an Opel GT. I have car for one month, bought it brand new from Germany and I'm addicted about performance of cars. I'm a member of most important club in my country doing drag race in general.

I was to in 2 drag events with this car until now and amazed about stock performance.

I ordered Wester Race tune, made an appointment for a dyno test on Saturday and i will repeat after I install the tune.

Some pictures with my car and some videos:

Thanks for the welcoming replies, I definitely feel I'm gonna love this forum is all about performance which I love most.

After I will get Lyndon's Tune, I have some other Opel GT owners around here with european tunes which I will try to convince them for a drag race and post the results. Also very curious to see dyno tests.

It is my first RWD car and I'm in process to learn it, I previously owned an Opel Astra Coupe 2.0 Turbo upgraded a little bit.

The worst part is there are no good tuning specialists in this country, but I have a lot of friends in my car club with performance cars and we are learning from each other, they all have top models of Mitsu, Subaru, Audi, BMW and some Opels in different stages of tuning.

jonymac Thanks for info, my list looks like:
- turbo-back exhaust with catless DP
- IC kit
- maybe intake if proves to help
Only after those I'm thinking to suspension and stiffening and after that a turbo kit, this plan is for 1-1,5 years :D

Welcome to the forum...  I have to wait until I"m home to see the pics and videos but from the other comments, they must be great...

Since you are getting the Westers Tune, you must upgrade those lousy clamps on the intake elbow with T-Bolts.    DDM works backbone brace and pro-beam also.

Like DeepBlueGXP says for drag racing you will really enjoy the Pro Beam from DDM Works, and the backbone will improve handling in the corners a lot. You are going to be blown away by the tune from Lyndon, make sure he gets the translation right and doesn't send you the Canadian tune . You can buy the ungraded 3 BAR TMAP sensors in Germany and build your own GMPP turbo upgrade kit, Lyndon can do the tune for you. Have fun!

DeepBlueGXP Can you help me a bit? What you are saying is to replace on elbow intake those things:
http://www.kshoseclamp.com/p_images/big/hose_clamp/spring_clamps_big.jpg

with something like this:
http://www.supplierlist.com/photo_images/74615/T-bolt_duty_clamp_Channel_bridge_SAE.jpg

???

After some many around here calling for backbone and pro-beam I have decided to put those 2 in top of my list.

lil goat I know I will be blown away with Wester Race Tune, that's why I got it from him, and those kind of talking I understood at it supposed to be and not how you are trying to confuse me  for sure he will NOT sent me the "Canadian" tune, maybe I will have a better tune cause over here the gas is on 98-100 octane ;) and I already told him about this  :award:
I barely know what is in the GMPP kit (i know 2 sensors, some connectors and the tune) so I don't know what should I order from Germany and how to install it. I would prefer to get them from Lyndon directly, emailed him about this and prefer to wait him to have tested products rather that to mess with something which I don't know.

We can not get the sensors easily here, the set Lyndon has is from one of us station in Germany, we can get the part numbers when you are ready. It is a Bosch part, so easier to get in Germany. With the higher octane your car is going to fly, I bet Lyndon is having fun tuning for the high octane, there is no Canadian tune I was just kidding. The clamps DeepBlue was talking about are the throttle body hose clamp, next to the engine block drivers side and the clamps on the hoes from the intercooler. Get a T-Bolt clamp. The hoses are 63.5 mm for the intercooler you need 4 and 70 mm for the throttlebody, you need 2 one for each end of the rubber hose, if you replace the hose with an elbow you will need 4.

I'm ready :D I need those sensors right away :))

I know about the joke with Canadian Tune, I read forums generally ;) You tried to fool me but you didn't succeed, but looks like I made a statement just to bait you with octane, and you bit it.
We have 98-100 octane fuel here but here the octane is calculated differently :P
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating
Even I suspect our fuel is a little bit better than there, our 98-100 is almost your 93-95 :P, little fish little fish :P

Welcome to the site, Kelu!

There is some decent beer down here, just dont' bother with most of the big boys... up-side: it's available in the grocery story...

Quiz: What's the appropriate response to "Thank you"?
A: If you said "you're welcome", you'd be wrong. More commonly, you'll hear "Uh huh"

Welcome Augustin !,
It is indeed nice to see an Opel on the forum, and especially one who races.

In Canada  :ca2: the tune is the same, but the cars run faster due to the colder, cleaner air
