Pictures with ECM/PCM
« on: May 29, 2009, 09:27:25 AM »
Hi,

I wanted to order HP Tuners, they asked me for a photo of my ECM and after cheking it they said HPT doesn't support my ECM. I wanted to compare with yours. Mine is an 2008 Opel GT (like Saturn Sky Red Line, manual).

Here is the picture:

I'll have to check my part number when I get my car back from the dealer.
It's currently being inspected.

My stock one on my 07 GXP Auto is 12610054 but the new one a have is 12605038 and says E69-4.
Upon taking a closer look at my stock ECM I noticed that the large #'s are 12610054 but the small #'s where it says SERV# says 12605038.
Now on my new ECM both #'s are the same 12605038.

08's I think use a slightly different Bosch ECM at least that's what I was told when I was looking for a new ECM.

I have a 2008 Sky

My Big Numbers are
E69 12625076 YSUD

The small Numbers are
Serv# 12614967 86YSUD486780356

Not sure if that helps in any way
They sure are close though.  I wonder what the last bit of small number signifies??

Im sure hptuners simply needs to add an update so it can detect an opel gt, it does support your ecm it just expects it to be either be from a solstice or a sky.
Try posting on the hptuners forum http://www.hptuners.com/forum/index.php

I don't think posting to their forum would help. I asked same question (if HPT would work on my car) on same time on htp email and to Dejon.
Jay Payson answered from HTP saying they don't support only after he saw the above pictures, Dave from Dejon initially said that will work and I informed him what Jay from HTP said Dave have doubled checked with HPT guys and replied that HPT knows. That's all story.

I think my "issue" is with E69 from top left side of the sticker.

HTP probably didn't realize that your Opel is actually an American made Kappa, but then again I would have thought that Dejon would have made them aware of that fact.

I'm forced to reactive this post because I need your opinions guys.

I just received an email today from Jay@HPTuner
Quote
We have researched as much as we can with the information that we have and believe that we can support it, but are not 100% certain.  It’s risky, particularly with the shipping costs involved.  We will need a read of the vehicle to be 100% certain.  The only way to obtain a read is to hook up to the vehicle with HP Tuners and try to read it.  If it’s not currently supported, we may be able to add it, but that will take time.  I wish I could tell you I was certain that it’s supported, but cannot right now.

And I replied to him:
Quote
Appreciated your reply and the concern to hook me up with your great product.

Let me know if I can help you in this process. What I'm thinking now is:
a) I have read my ECM by a local tuner in a raw data and sent it to Lyndon Westers for tune. Does help you a file read using CMD Technologies (http://www.cmdtec.it/index.asp?language=en)?
b) There is any way to install HPT (like trial version) and borrow an OBD cable from a friend of mine and test if HPT works?
c) You are aware of any customers of HPTuners in Romania? I searched around (i know most of the tuners in my country) but I couldn't find someone using HPTuners so I could test with my car before buying HPT.

There any other methods which can determine if HPT will work on my ECM?

I'm ready to do everything which might help and not risk too much because besides shipping I pay also local taxes 20-45% of the invoice+shipping when I receive something from US and the price will go almost $1000.

There are any other methods which you might think of so I could determine if HPT will work with my ECM?
