I hope so!  There is another CDC Summit Point Skidpad event on July 18.  Love to see you there.

The Daytona Coupe should be ready by then, but I am considering taking the Solstice out anyway, because the sealer they have on the pavement out there makes it not exactly 500+ rwhp friendly.  Also, I probably would log more 2009 championship points in the GXP (which I am used to) than in breaking in a brand new beast.

Unlike SCCA (which handicaps PAX strictly based on car classing), at CDC events, the handicap system is based on indexed times weighted according to: hp; whether you run R compound tires; and car weight.  Cobras get hammered in all categories, and move down compared to raw times.  Sols on good street tires (provided you credibly claim no more than 250 rwhp), the opposite.

To illustrate, I let a girl (good driver, wife of one of the top CDC drivers) drive my GXP at a CDC event in Woodbridge Saturday.   She pulled a 38.45, good for 26th overall, but after the street tire, weight and hp handicaps were factored in she moved UP ten places, to post a 16th place indexed finish in a field of 85 cars.

I drove Fast Freddie's Cobra in both am and pm runs. I logged a 38.00 best pass in the borrowed Cobra, 18th out of 85 overall in raw time, but got killed in index time, as the hp, tire, and weight factors pushed me DOWN 25 whole places.

For comparison, top three times for the day were a 34.65, a highly modified FWD Honda Civic, 34.85, Wade Chamberlain's supercharged Cobra, and Fast Freddies' Cobra (driven by Fred), 35.34.

Point is, Sols on good street tires index really well at CDC events.  You can move up a lot if you get a decent (top 25%) raw time.

So come out and play!

The ZOK package was tested in the track and since I like to do that once in a while, my feeling is to go with what the GM boys tested and found to work well.
After all T2 SCCA has been capture a couple of times.
I do not Autox any more, and do not plan to do it any time soon.
Solstice GXP 2007.

With all respect, LV, the SCCA HANDED T2 to Pontiac by granting it wider wheels and weight breaks, among other things, to what amounted to factory teams. That said, I recently received the Solstice Performance book and have already benefited. One thing they are DEAD WRONG on is their toe IN setting for the front for Solo. Also, just about everybody with GXP/Z0Ks in Solo are NOT using the Z0K front bar, and many of the 2.4 Z0Ks ditto. Simply too much understeer with the bigger front bars.

BTW, put on my just received Z0K rear bar. It was a NIGHTMARE as I had to R&R the trailer hitch. :banghead: :banghead: :censor: :censor:    While I was there the rear bearing packs came off to install the longer ARP studs to allow for wheel spacers to eliminate inner wheel well tire rub with the 315 Hoosiers (SCCA will not allow hammering the inner sheet metal). Other than dropping the MagnaFlow muffler on my face  :idiot: :cryin:  :cryin: :idiot: (ouch, and some ice under my right eye took care of the "mouse" that quickly developed) all went well. This car is SO easy to work on. It's fun.

Critter if you want my old bar you will need some 26mm bushings, Summit Racing has them.

Sure hope you kept the old bushings, I cannot find greasable 26mm bushings on their website  and I have been through about 25 pages of their listings.

Even non greaseable ones in urethane instead of rubber would be better, and yes I have the bushings. Here is the deal, 25mm is considered 1" 27 mm in considered 1 1/16. I believe U-238 said the 27mm were to big for the stock bar, that's what size it's supposed to be according to spec, I might try the 25 mm  should be pretty damn close, better a bit tight than loose. One inch is actually 25.4 mm, I bet the stock bar is a one inch bar. I found the 1" on Jegs but most likely on Summit too

I would try 25 mm as they are most likely a bit over 25 mm if they are 1". the 26 mm were a lot more expensive too WTF, makes no sense to me. I do have the factory junk rubber ones, they are in good shape but as you would notice just the change to urethane even without changing the bar I would go urethane. :goat:

OK, the ZOK bar showed up today. Hope to get it installed tomorrow.

Oh, and the new bar is 1mm larger than the stock one, the 27mm bushing fit just fine. So, no, you cannot try and sneak it across as a stock bar. (Not that I would have tried anyway...)

OK, the new sway bar is installed. Not a difficult install, but it was painful at times.

Made a dramatic difference in how the car handles. No more turn the wheel, wait a tic for the effect. Used to be, if you moved the wheel back and forth a little at highway speed, the car would continue straight. (unless you held it there for a bit, then it would turn. Now the car responds to input more readily. It's a bit looser in the corners of course. Some turns I used to take at WOT now require partial throttle.

On the whole, I think the car should have come like this stock, or at least as an option. The reviews of these cars that claim the steering is numb compared to a Miata ought to try a ZOK rear bar equipped Kappa.

Oh, and like the Goat I noticed that the rear end seems a bit more planted on launches. It's a little tougher to squeal the tires now.

I'd love to try an A/X the car with this. Might try joining Ben and the Goat next weekend.

I wonder what impact the new bar will have in the rain?

I did some driving today and tried to nail down what all the suspension goodies do for my car. I think I have it/ When I bought the car I would throw it around corners not very precise but it worked and I could go very fast. After the DDM, stuff it was more precise but still throwing it around. Then came the coilovers, MUCH more precise less throwing more driving, then the Z0K bar. It seemed to tie things together, like it was the missing piece. Can I drive any faster now, I don't know. But it is much easier to drive fast, I feel like I am much more in control and it takes far less effort to drive very fast. I am now excited about the Auto X. I feel like I am much better able to control the car. It has far better manners over rough roads. I certainly agree it should have come with the Z0K bar much less body roll.

None. The lever on the right side of the steering column has some impact on the rain.   :poke:  :yay: :D :woohoo:

Oh, one very important thing to add: The end links? The bolt was a torx bit-it was a hex. Used an allen key, worked great.

Goat, sounds like when are cars were stock we felt about the same way. Sometimes I could get the car to "hook" in a turn, and you could feel the car cut it's way through a turn. But, it was difficult to get the car to do this through the entire turn. With the new sway bar, it's no longer a problem.

Oh, and it helped kill the rear end's tendency to roll after coming out of a corner.

Bob, you think maybe some rain-x might help with that too? :D
