Get the red out
« on: August 17, 2009, 08:28:40 AM »
I know many of you love the red stitching in some of the GXP's it was an option. I HATE IT, have since day one. I would not have bought it if the rest of the car was not what I wanted. I finally did something about it. I died it all black. I am slowly getting all the work done by JPM with yellow stitching, and it really looked bad to have the two different colors. I now have yellow or black, which you pretty much can't see. I will need to do a second application to get it completely black but I sure like it better, but I know I am in the minority. I used Doc Bailey's leather conditioner, it has black dye in it. Makes the seats look great and got the red out. The GXP logo in the middle of the seat looks really cool black on black.

Hmm, since I had most of my interior done by JPM, I may do the same to my seats, they are a little pricey to replace because of the color of thread.

U-238 you can see them in person at the dyno or the auto X, I will take pictures after I do the second coat, there are just a few places it didn't take all the way or I missed. I wanted to let everything dry and do it again maybe tonight. The steering wheel is a pain!

DBG, those were my thought exactly! I am having some more stuff done at the mod meet as well, now it will at least not clash. Like I said I used the Doc Bailey's, it is a conditioner as well as dye, but I am sure you could just use dye.

LG-
That's a great and very inexpensive solution! Clashing colors diminish your cool custom work.

I took some pictures, the GXP logo needs another treatment to get it black but the stitching took really well.
