Road Trip advice! Heading North to Southern California |
(1/1) |
Gentleman Jack:
Hey all, Gentleman Jack here, looking for some sight seeing ideas or possible meet ups! The Misses and I are taking our Sol for a cruise. Neither of us has ever driven the SoCal Coast and now we have the perfect car to do it. We will be leaving VERY early Wednessday November 2nd to get thru LA traffic. Our plan is to leave San Diego around 3am and should be thru LA by 5:30. Then we are free to go wherever. The only thing we have planned is to be home by Sunday. She would like to see the Hearst Castle and I would like to get up to the 17 mile drive in Monterey. Other than that, we don't have anything planned. Suggestions? Road trip advice for the Solstice? Packing light will be the goal and I read somewhere that packing in plastic grocery bags allows for the best fit with the top down. We do not have any hotel plans or know much about any of the areas, so suggestions on where to go, or where NOT to go would be great! We are hoping for great weather, but will go either way, unless it is a "day after tommorrow" type storm. Anybody live along the way? We could meet up for lunch, dinner? We see very few Sol / Sky's here in San Diego, but you must be out there somewhere! Thanks in advance for the comments of suggestions and happy motoring! :2c: Highway ONE (1) is fun, keep on it. Charge the batteries in the cameras!!!! Cannery Row in Montery Bay is a hoot, 17 Mile is a nice drive, stop and take fotos!! Gilroy is also an interesting visit AWA Castroville. If you get past all of those, Point Arena (N of Frisco) is a nice place to visit. Rubber on the road. Steve :drag: |

Dunno if it's the right time of year for the seals (I think... or were they sea lions?) to be hanging out on the beach (it's near Hearst Castle and there are signs). I did see them in Dec, so they're probably around... |
Gentleman Jack:
