Another "new guy"
« on: October 15, 2009, 01:39:48 PM »
New Solstice owner as of September 25th of this year. Traded my 2005 G6 GT for a 2008 Envious (Green) GXP, automatic. My fiance says it's a midlife crisis  but I maintain I did it because I can, and wanted to

I've loved the car since I first saw it unveiled at the Detroit auto show several years ago (still a concept then) and with only one child, and no wedding date set despite a long engagement, I figured it was now or never  :yay: Best I can tell it has every option that was available on the model. Original sticker was in the glovebox (one owner, 12K miles) and shows $32K retail.

In the three weeks of ownership I've only managed a few little things - K&N filter, tinted the windows (myself), installed the Soundgate Ipod integration, and I swapped out the antenna with a 12" flex that I'd tried on the motorycle for a while. Not very good reception, but I'm an XM junky anyway so it rarely gets used. It did have the door handle "pop" that I quickly cured - other than that it's pretty much been enjoyed.

When I'm not  :) behind the wheel of the roadster I'm on the golf course, riding the motorcycle (99 Honda Valkyrie Interstate), spending time with my only child (soon to be teenage daughter, your sympathies appreciated), or relaxing with an IPA and a good cigar.

Looking forward to the new friends and the Solstice experience.

Welcome to the best Kappa forum on the net!!
My sympathy for the teenage daughter experience, went through it 4 times. It's amazing any of them are still alive. :gaah:
I haven't seen anything with that little town in Missouri's name in a long time, was stationed at Blytheville AFB, Ar. for about a year and 1/2, many moons ago.

Eaker AFB (Blytheville) is now a FedEx hub, retirement community, golf course, and I'm not sure what else. Oh, a very elaborate Christmas light display once a year. I have a cousin that was stationed there for quite a while, would've been early 80s I guess.

I'm not into the street racing scene but I read something somewhere about some races on part of the old base as well.

Ironic - you're in Florida, spent a little time up here. I was born in Florida (pops was stationed at Eglin for a while) and spent the rest of my life here. Many days I find myself wondering why they had to come back "home".

I was in transportation squadron in 81 & 82. Left there to go into computers. I was stationed at Eglin twice, kept trying to get back home to Tampa, never happened. Had to get out and move back home. Everyone else is putting cars away for the winter. Our run last Saturday the temperature was 95*. Hoping the run we do on the 28th will be cooler.

Welcome here, lots of great people with a lot of knowledge for most anything you want to do.
