Just got a brand new 2008 Sky Redline that was left over in Nova Scotia. Techno gray, manual, full loaded with Monsoon 6 discs changer.  The only things missing : rear spoiler and chromed mags.

Previously owned a 1990 Miata. Not the same feeling but don't understand all those negative reviews about the Sky. Beautiful car, comfortable ride, good performance and really cheap on gas. Average 8 liters / 100 km. I took a ride in a 2008 Miata and Solstice GXP and found the Solstice more fun to drive. So choice was not to difficult since the Sky was already my first choice.

This is my summer toy and I use it as second car so I don't care too much about trunk space.

Welcome on the forum!
i wish i had an OEM rear spoiler too!!
it s weird to see a North American measuring consumption in lt/km!! nice, now i can understand the figures!
having driven a Miata a lot of times, i agree with you. Kappas are much more fun to drive, Miata's are very good balanced cars but they have limitations as to the fun they offer!

Once again welcome!

Welcome to the forum.  Congrats on your great choice.  How did the power compair to the Miata.  All the negative reviews come from Mazda.  Just trying to hurt our reputation since they were loosing sales to GM.  It's a non-issue now since they shut down the plant.  Oh and there is plenty of space if you are creative.  We've managed to pack for a 5 day trip for 2 and still have the top down.  If you need more space, buy another one

Arabas :  Thanks !!! Just realised you were from Greece. Nice to have Kappa fans around the world. In Canada, we use the metric system just like in Europe. And if I speak about miles per gallon, I must take in count that the american gallon is 3.78 liters and the canadian ( imperial ) gallon is 4.54 liters. So, my guess is that I average 36 mpg in canadian gallons.

DeepBlueGXP : Glad to be new member. I won't need to buy another one 'cause already have a kind of little wagon : 2009 red HHR ... plenty of storage !!! And speaking about power, no comparison with a Miata ... it's like a rocket !!!

Yup, the US (and in some respects, Great Britain) are the only real holdouts as far as metric goes. Canada officially converted in the 70s, and I grew up learnig metric rather than the imperial system, though for things like heights and weights we still frequently use inches and pounds in day-to-day use.

Welcome Yugo from out west!!  Who the heck buys a roadster 2 weeks before winter starts!?!?  kidding

As a side note about the spoilers.  When Pontiac supplied the cars for the Canada safety/crash testing, they did not have spoilers on them.  SO in typical Canadian wisdom, they would not allow new cars with spoilers to be sold in Canada.  Because well you know that little piece of plastic on the back may be a safety issue....idiots

Welcome Yugo , enjoy your new ride ! Great cars !!

KWhale I wondered about the spoiler issue, before buying my car in Canada I looked at bringing one in from the U.S since there was more choice and I'm right on the border as you know. Checked with customs and the one and only the import restrictions was that it could not have the spoiler, didn't know the history and thought how stupid was that. Now I know just how stupid !!

Sadly, I'll have to put it in storage for winter months. Had a marvelous last week-end with plenty of sun so took a 2 days ride in Quebec city.

People stared at us as we drove top down !!! Probably thought we're kinda nuts 'cause temp was around 8 degrees C in the afternoon. Didn't matter since I'll put it in the garage at the end of the month and I'll have to wait 6 long months before taking another ride. Seen alot of convertibles that weekend but just crossed one with top down !!!

I get a lot of people staring when i drive with top down at low temps, like 15 Celcium or so. And when people say stupid things like, "how can you drive with the top down with such a cold weather" or they tend to think that i show off, i simply tell them that they have NEVER critised someone riding a motorcycle in cold weather or even at rain... i have the windscreen and hot air to keep me warm and i enjoy my ride top down. so i tell them that it is them who are just prejudiced and have taboos.... Curiously enough, all of them shut up instantly...

Welcome to Kappa Performance.com yugo1947!  I have added you to the list of Canadian and Alaskan owners as of today.  You may wish to check to be sure you are listed correctly and also to check the whereabouts of some of your neighbors who own a Kappa Roadster.  The list has grown a lot since I began this thread a long time ago on another forum.  Yes, we have some owners up in the State of Alaska as well.  Not enough for a Meet, but you guys and gals in Canada certainly have enough for a Regional if not National Meet some time in the future.  Please check to see if I have the information correct on this post, PM me if a change needs to be made.

Again, welcome to the forum, I apologize for my late response.  I see that you joined the forum on 10-20-2009.

Hello everybody !!! and thanks for welcome messages ...

Ron : Glad you put my name with canadian and alaskan owners .... wondering if we are in the same list  'cause we have to deal with winter and snow for so many months !!!   :)

By the way, where do I go to check the list ???  It would be great to be able to see if I have Kappa owners aroud here so I can ask a few questions. Looking for a GMPP turbo upgrade kit next spring and maybe there is someone out there that can tell me which canadian dealer not to far from home could install it.
