Dyno before exhaust + wester's "ss" tune and after
« on: October 26, 2009, 06:29:30 PM »
Some months ago I went to dyno and pulled 2 runs with a result of 235hp (176.3KW) and 386Nm (284 lbs-ft) this result:

I did a run with AFR and boost, but because I had the stock exhaust I don't know if the AFR was concluded.

The dyno was a mustang, no fan !!!, around 30 degrees Celsius (86F) and no compensations.
At that time I had only Dejon IC, custom made throttle body elbow and Wester's Tune.

In this weekend went again on the same dyno, and around 22 degrees Celsius (71F) and a small pretty strong fan but still I rated not enough for real air flow.
To my car a Solo catless downpipe, mach exhaust and the tune was updated to latest public version of Wester's tune.
I didn't received the files yet but I have a picture and some videos.
The results are: 253hp (189KW) with 418 Nm (308 lbs-ft)
The difference speaks but don't forget about the dyno situation: 17hp and 24lbs-ft

This is a pretty conservative dyno, a base car probably will not go above 220 hp, maybe less and judging based on that, I'm pretty happy about the results. I didn't do more runs because I don't very happy about that fan.

I did also a 1/4 mile simulation drag race and the result came very close of my personal best E/T from drag strip.
On drag strip: 13.30s
On dyno: 13.37s

Always nice to see dyno results. Seems like a nice gain to me.

The gain is what matters and basically it shows how the tuner took advantage of the improvements to the exhaust.

Very nice gains for an already tuned car, keep the master busy he just updated my catless tune, it really helped down low, worked so much better on the auto x course last weekend.

Sorry guys, "official mail" still didn't arrived from the dyno.
Lil goat: what are you saying there? You are working on a newer version of the SS Tune?
I have some logs (not with HPT) do you think should I sent them to Lyndon? Or let him alone to do other more important things?

Updated first post with the files from the dyno.

Guys, maybe I did a mistake but I want to check with you. Converting kW to Hp I know I have to multiply kW by 1.36 to get Hp. Google and some other internet pages show I have to  multiply by 1.34:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=1+kW+to+hp&sourceid=navclient-ff&rlz=1B3GGGL_enRO308RO308&ie=UTF-8

I might be wrong and stated bigger values for Hp on my first post but I'm pretty confident I'm right, I can't convince the differences of the conversion, I think is related to mechanical horsepower but I couldn't clear myself up.

1 horsepower = 745.699872 watts... (1 / 745.699872) * 1 000 = 1.34102209...

I have updated the values in first topic, the difference remains same ;)

Wester's Garage: I'm not aiming high numbers, I was always annoyed by the 240 whp showed by DynoJet on stock cars, that would mean only a 10% loss on drivetrain which I consider it too low. I'm glad I have same numbers as your dyno and same with the numbers showed by the conservative dyno when the guys did the dyno day.

British System:- 746W = 1 H.P.
1000W (1 kW) = (1000 / 746) H.P. = 1.34 H.P.

Metric System:- 735.5W = 1 H.P.
1000W (1kW) = (1000/735.5) H.P. = 1.36 H.P.

Both we were right :)
