Hello Kappa Performance Forum
« on: January 22, 2010, 11:06:07 PM »
Hello, all.  My name is John.  I finally got my Solstice last summer, an Aggressive GXP manual.  I say finally because I work at GM, and was the Program Manager (a cool job, maybe not quite what it sounds like, though) from late 2002 to late 2005, and I fell in love with the car way back before I ever drove one.  Really never thought I'd get one.

After the bankruptcy and announcements about Pontiac and Solstice, I convinced my wife this was it, the last chance to grab a new one. :violin:  And she said yes! :yay:  That's our car, the Aggressive in my photo.

I was also able to get into a coupe before they all disappeared, and while cool and unique, the convertible will always be my favorite.

Our car lives 'up north' here in Michigan waiting for dry pavement and warm temps.  Splash guards because the road is gravel.  GMPP just because.  I love what the GMPP did for the car in 2nd and especially 3rd.

You may wonder about the gogopher6 moniker.  I am a U of M grad, and I'm watching my Gophers playing St. Cloud State as I type.  6 = hockey, of course.  Let me know if that means anything to you.

Working the Solstice program was, without a doubt, the coolest assignment I'll have at GM.

Sorry, my wording was misleading regarding the coupe.  I meant I was able to 'take one home' for a couple nights.  Did get some photos of it, but that's all I have left.

I'm curious about this. Means nothing to me except that 6 was my number for several (6 in fact) years. Is that a US college hockey thing?

6 on the ice.  This was a way (a? some?) local Minneapolis broadcasters differentiated the teams when I was a kid.  5 was, of course, squeakyball, 11 football etc.  Nobody (who I know who lived in that market) seems to remember the concept.

I think the side marker mod looks like one I'll consider, but GMPP was my first.  I am amazed at just how much effort some people are putting into their mods.  Another one I like is eliminating that horrible airbag indicator.  Someday:  cat-back, bars

The side marker mod is free, just requires a little work on your part.
