And they blew it up! I spoke with Dave a Randy about this at the last mod meet. It is a great story, glad to see the article left out the blowing it up and walking home at 3 in the morning, Randy was taking readings with the laptop while Dave drove, he could barely hold on to the laptop. Yes they are both completely insane!

the kit is only 6,500 bucks. If the Kappa kit is around that price I might wanna go for it. I thought it would be way more.

Kenny, the Ecotec in the Atom is different than the LNF we have. Might not bolt up, and I can't imagine where all the plumbing would go for a turbo AND a s/c.

DDM has mentioned they are playing with twincharge on the Kappa. Not sure if or when it will be released.

the kit is only 6,500 bucks. If the Kappa kit is around that price I might wanna go for it. I thought it would be way more.

You have to remember that with the Atom we started with a car that already had a supercharger, which means we got to pick the turbo and add it. With the LNF we are starting with a turbo car, and a turbo that is too small to really use in a twin charged setup, so we have to replace the turbo and add a supercharger in the LNF case, which means it would be more expensive.

Thanks,
Dave

I saw the Atom on Autoblog but just skimmed right over it without really looking. Thanks for bringing it to our attention Ken. Great press for DDM!

Woot Woot, congrats to DDM for this, thanks kenny for posting.

In my opinion, a twin-charge setup on our cars screams for internals and head upgrades, then I ask you, does it worth the price?

Isn't a small turbine capable of 400-420hp a better compromise?

For drag racing, probably. The goal here is to up the low-end power. SC for the low end, turbo for the top.

My question is, if this is what Dave and Randy can do with the 4 banger Atom, what could they do with the V8 version?

The press release says that you replaced the existing supercharger. Your statement above sounds like you just added a turbo.

Yes I understand that there will be additional parts needed to add the supercharger to the LNF. But hopefully that won't add too much more :)

Uranium-238: For drag racing you don't need a SC, just a big turbo and some good tires to launch in high rpm ;)
A small turbo capable of 400hp ca spool as soon our crappy k04, for example Bullseye BW S252 but be half priced as a twin charge kit.

Don't go there, the guys love 4 banger, keep them here :P

I should have been clearer. My "Probably" reply was directed to Kelu's "Isn't a bigger turbo a better compromise" statement.

Then again, I should point out that the fastest drag cars are all supercharged...
