Breckland Beira Wheels
« on: January 26, 2010, 06:47:54 PM »
Anybody know where these wheels came from?  I suspect they were one-offs, but figured I'd check to see if anyone recognizes them.  They're SIMILAR to Merc SLR wheels, but not quite.

For those that don't know Breckland Beira seems to have been a dead-end British venture to make a V8 Kappa-based niche car.  I just dig the wheels

I must agree...those are very nice wheels and compliment the Sky very well.  I saw a picture of these floating around somewhere but can't remember where they are from.

That's not a Sky it's and English Kappa based sports car with a V-8, that costs over $100,000. The Beckland Biera.

I think it is way hotter than a Solstice or a Sky, and I love those wheels.

Closest wheel I could find was a deep dish version in Google/Images.  Made by Veilside wheels, model name; Andrew Baccarat.  But I think they have been discontinued.

I believe you are correct, sure is close, different center cap, most likely do to the extremely large hub on the Kappa.

Found 'em!   They're Lorinser LM6 wheels.  From what I have found so far, they ain't cheap!  We're talking $1,500 a pop.  I think they're made by/for Mercede$ Benz

That would sort of help explain why they charge $100,000 for a V-8 powered Kappa with some fancy body work and a set of KW coilovers, it's not even an LS-7 it's an LS-2 circa 2005.

The ones on the Breckland are ever so slightly different, though, if you look closely.

1) they have little "peaks" between the spokes/blades where they meet the hubs that are slightly more defined than the ones on the Lorinser wheel

2) they are missing the "Lorinser" name by the valve stems

Maybe Breckland opted for LM6 knock-offs (which are also apparently available/popular) :idk:

Looks like JPM did the seats and Norm the rear diffuser!  I like the car - very sharp.  And for 100 grand it better be!

If anyone wants to "guinea pig" this, I found out that it can *theoretically* be done for ~$800 (+shipping and tires)...  if:

- 8.5 and 9.5 (f/r, respectively) aren't too wide,
- if we're hub-centric stock
- you're comfortable with "wobble nuts" / PCD variation nuts (see 2nd link)
- you can sort out the correct offset
- you feel lucky enough or dumb enough to take the risk (I sure don't)

Still, I wonder if Breckland did similar for their application...  :idk:
