See? All for only $26 and it works. (Don't worry, it was just a project to see what a CAI sounded like!!)

So are you putting your stock airbox back on?  I see you are missing one of your gray retainers on your cam phasing solenoids plug.

Probably. But ultimately I will have a CAI (what a lousy misnomer!!) from somebody with a tune, I/C, downpipe and all that stuff. This was a quick and dirty build made from dryer exhaust sheet metal, a glued together plastic card stock to create a mounting point for the MAF sensor, and a Spectre filter from O'Rielly Auto Parts. I just wanted hear the turbo popping and farting. I may use SPectre's component system to build a proper unit, of somebody's built unit. It is interesting, and curious, that Westers makes a CAI from the intake boot forward, while some other vendors build CAI's that attach to the throttle body, and GMPP has one that is REAL that parks the filter way down and to the left which requires an extension cable for the MAF sensor.

As far as the clip is concerned, I forgot about that. It broke a year ago when I removed the insulator mat to change the spark plugs. Guess I should get a new clip.

Well, maybe I am NOT a tuner. The experiment is hereby declared a failure. The car has become "confused". After a short drive the car would not produce boost. I cycled the engine off/on and all was good. After a couple minutes no boost again. Finally the car threw a code that Onstar said was an intake system code. (They are not allowed to say what code is present!) The probable cause is a poorly executed system. I don't know what is wrong, but at this point I really don't care. The stock air box will go back on tomorrow and I will wait for a proper intake system and a tune. WTF, it was fun, and I still have the air filter!!! :woohoo:

Don't feel bad, Fujita had numerous codes from there intakes, as did the Dejon intakes when they first came out. They had real engineering teams and still had a hard time with it, the MAF is very picky!

Holy crap, you are NOT whistling dixie. Here is what I posted on the Solstice forum ........

"I'm a loser baby, so why don't you shoot me." If you know the lyrics, you'll understand. It didn't work. Well, maybe I am NOT a tuner. The experiment is hereby declared a failure. That sums it up. The home brewed CAI comes off tomorrow, the ducting hits the crapper, and the filter goes on a shelf. Oh well, it was fun. All that burping and wheezing was fun. And when it DID work correctly the sudden spool up was crazy. (On the way to Home Depot I downshifted and floored the gas in THIRD, and had I disabled the TC the car would have looped!!! WOW.) Phone calls commence on Monday.
