Will do so GJ, will also check the fuse, but it seems in most cases has been a bad sensor...

FYI if you're having a red dic issue you might want to go see a doctor and be more careful with the kind of air bags you're hanging around with.

you believe US and Canadian dealerships rip you off?  think again.
how much did the local Opel dealership ask me for to replace the airbag sensor with the bottom seat cushion?

NO, guess again....

2065 euros... meaning $2500 dollars (yes, these are 2 zeros)...

i believe that i will be asking a forum member's help pretty soon in order to get the part from USA

Was that just for the part?  Of course it doesn't take much labor to install either.  If your going to do this you might want to add seat heaters if you don't already have them (how cold are your winters in Greece anyway).

yeap, that was just for the part according to their recent pricelist. of course some people around here replaced the part with 100 euros plus 40 euros labor, which sound already too much.
my reaction was: " no sir, i don't want a used car with airbag, i want the airbag sensor for this car"

seat heaters sounds good, but the truth is that we don;t need it around here. i mean, if it snows just a bit during a winter, it's on the news.
top down on the other hand is much more common in Greece (due to the weather)  ;)

Hey Guys.

I had the same problem, "service airbag" and the passenger airbag always on "off".

Replaced the sensor by myself, but the error remains...

Does the dealer have to "install" the new sensor via tech2? Or sth like that?

Yours,
Napi.

I don't think they have to "install it" in the software but they may have to reset the code, however I am not sure about that.  It could be a system that does a retest and then resets on it's own.  If you don't get an answer by this evening I will try and look it up and let you know.

The error about airbag might not be in ECM (engine computer), that's why you might not see it with OBD reader.
I think is handled in BCM and you can't delete it, the system autochecks everything and if is fixed it will go away.

Ok. The car had a couple of starts since I replaced the sensor... So maybe it is something else...
Is t possible to clear the bcm by removing the battery lines?!

There is a separate passive restraint controller module, located under the OnStar box IIRC.  Need techII to configure and/or read airbag codes.  And yes you need the dealer to retrain/reset the system when you replace the seat sensor.  (Though some have said that they replaced the sensor without needing a reset - they seem to be in the minority.)

Napi there are all kinds of DTCs that can be set for the airbags and you will need a proper scan tool to retrieve the codes.

When you replace the seat sensor you will have to set up the new sensor or that will set a code.  Also when you install the new sensor you will have to do a preload test procedure.

A lot of the codes that can self clear will do so after 255 error free key cycle some are 100 cycles, very few are just when the error is not detected.  There also appears to be those codes that can only be cleared with the scan tool.

In your case it looks like you will have to visit a dealer so that you can set up the new sensor and do the test, Tomato Soup appears to be right (don't tell him I said that)

The sensor Tomato soup mentioned is between the seats behind the rear cockpit panel.

Man...
Dealer stated he couldn't help me, because the new tech2 software does no longer include compatibility to the Opel GT...
So it's either driving to the next "center", which I will do in a couple of weeks or buying a tech2 myself...
Is there sone kind of a "cheap version" of the tech2? Like a cable and software for my laptop or sth?

Yours,
Napi.
