The car goes back in later this week.  I have a bad plug under the passenger seat for the airbag.  Could have been worse!

Yep, thank goodness.  The display does in and out on the radio too, so they are trying to locate a new radio.  If they can't, I'm going aftermarket.

We're not concerned about you and the wife, thats really kind of inappropriate for this thread GJ then again given the subject of this thread she might think it does apply to you. Critter just wants to make sure you understand why you always remove the negative battery cable first.  :poke:

SA,

Don't get this confused with TDE.  Tread lightly here.   :poke:

I get the negative battery thing.  I have taught all my girl friends "positive live, positive dead, negative live, GROUND.  Once I was "done" with them, they knew how to jump a car and change a tire.

In road racing air bags are removed for safety purposes-ie tagging/tapping /hitting the car ahead of you might set off airbags at 100+mph leading to loss of control of your vehicle It is required in SCCA T-2 road racing. Sometimes a airbag can total your car if you lightly tag someone accidently while driving to closely especially if your texting or talking on the phone. It is something to really think about. Graywolf,

Nice work.  We are back on track.  Airbags are great.  Except when they are bad.

Did the OP get this seat switch / plug fixed?  Was it quick and simple?  Anything we should look out for in general or do you think yours was an isolated incident?

Hi, my air bag warning light came on the other day. The red one between the tach and speedo. Also the DIC said "SERVICE AIR BAG". Also, while driving with my wife, the dash indicator for passenger air bag went from on to off back to on, then off again. I took the car to the dealer, they said the sensor in the seat is bad and will replace it. Mine is a 2007 GXP with 38,000 miles. I have the 48mons/48,000 mile warranty so it is covered.

Sounds like you have more than an airbag problem...  Airbag service won't stop your car from starting.  You may have a bad battery.  Do you hear clicking noises?

Check all the usual culprits ; fuses, battery, shift interlock / brake pedal sensor...  do the horn and the radio work?  can you scan for codes?

You don't have to have a bad battery for this to happen just a low battery.  Last spring I pulled the car out of the garage for the first time after winter storage, washed the car and then tried to restart it but no luck.  I put a meter on the battery and it was at 11.5 v.  The computer figured the voltage was too low and wouldn't even try to start.  Jumped it and never had a problem after that.
