Ok, so I've changed contracts now and I'm working for NOAA Fisheries. On one hand its nice because I don't have to drive 1.5 hours anymore, but the done side is that I have to park my ride at the commutter lot. I'm planning on ordering the Weathershield HP outdoor custom cover to keep the top and paint from getting too faded. With getting a cover, I'm thinking about just capping off my stock radio Anten. I only use my XM, CD's or my iPhone for music and have never even set the radio stations. If I cut this short and cap it off will it create problems for anything else? The OnStare and XM are on the trunk so I don't see an issue. Most outdoor car covers I've used don't anticipate the design for the Anten. Suggestions? :usa:

You have to cut a whole ( an X) and use the clamping circle ring they provide to keep the antenna.

Should cause no problems to anything else.

Easiest method would just be to unscrew the antenna mast and cap the stub with either a rubber cap or finish nut or similar.

Both are good choices.  My cover came with a cap but I remove the antenna as I don't want any extra holes and then I reinstall the antenna after I take off the cover.

I've used a vacuum cap to cover it before...

That is the snap ring I was talking about, you have to cut the cover with an "X", then put the bottom piece through the hole you created and then 'snap' the top piece over it.

But, if you are not using the radio (am/fm) then a vacumn cap over the thread and you don't have to cut anything.  If you are going to have to take the antena on an off everyday, then use the gromet above.

6mm license plate bolt from J&P Cycles. Needed to cut 1/8 in off antenna stud.
Picks up a local FM station.

PS You can set XM presets on the radio buttons
