Dead battry and brake issue
« on: April 13, 2010, 02:18:56 PM »
My battery died.  Re charged and the check engine light is on.  Car runs great.  Had On Star run a Diag.  They state that it is a low voltage brake swith error.  What is that?  Anyone know why a dead battery would throw a break error.... Car stops fine wityh no break fade.

Can you clear the Check engine light?  It is probably on because of the Brake code which is on because your battery died.   Most of these lights and codes turn themselves off after a few key cycles if they are not re-occuring.

Best bet would be to get the code cleared and see if that takes care of the issue.

I had something similar on my Mercedes. Not sure if it applies. I replaced the brake switch myself. It cost all of 20 bucks.
