This stuff works great as a degreaser. After seeing some Hoppe's #9 that I had left out turn into a nasty, gooey mess I used it to completely de-grease my hunting rifle. Now that the rifle is all cleaned up I just have to find a better powder solvent...

i cleaned the MAF with a  product they gave me at a store (the salesman said it is 100% OK for MAF).
the product is Permatex carb cleaner.
some posts on the net, say it is OK, some others say it is not good for the MAF.
so, any of you guys have an idea if i did something stupid here or not?
worst case scenario (that i think is highly impossible), i will order a MAF over the net, around $50+shipping

Arabas: only you can answer that question
If I were you I would go ahead and order it, you have so many GTs around there for sure one will pop his MAF and you will be the only one with maf on stock  :poke:

I wouldn't use it, I rather use brake cleaner than carb, but this is me

If it cleaned it and dried out not leaving any residue behind it should be fine.
Although in the future insist on CRC MAF cleaner.

Check ingredients between that and MAF cleaner. I'm sure someone has it listed on the net, or someone form forum can list what is on their can.

Critterman, you are on my "black list friends" now!!!
ok, i m not good at technical knowledge and i am a bit complaining on the other thread about the small knocks issues that happen once in a while, but if you could only see my expression when reading your post, you would never do that again !!  :( :cryin:

now that my heart is at it's place, do you know if this is an OK product for MAF cleaning???

CRC Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner is the safe and effective alternative to "underground" methods of MAF sensor cleaning. Don't us aggressive chemicals like brake parts cleaners or carburetor cleaners on MAF sensors. These can cause serious damage to sensitive parts. Use CRC MAF Sensor Cleaner -- It's the right product for the job! It safely and easily cleans the MAF hotwires and electrical components without damage to the wires or plastic housing. Cleaning is simple, safe and fast. The whole job should take less than 10 minutes!

Arabas:
I have attached the CRC MAF Cleaner Product sheet that gives you the ingredients for it.
None of them are what you listed for the Carb cleaner.

Now that this thread has been closed for a while, thought I would ask; anyone have any issues with their cars after preforming this? Or is this a idiot proof good idea. Just crossed 25000 miles and thought it might be time to clean the MAF and changeout the stock air intake filter.
