There was this thread on installing the rear view mirror with a camera.

After this re-raising the HHR mirror swap idea, I've finally got around to ordering whiter LEDs to replace the overly "warm' ones in the standard HHR mirror.  Will let you know how it goes.
Did it.  Started a thread... http://www.kappaperformance.com/forum/index.php?topic=10332

Is there a versrion
WITH camera display
WITH map-lights
POSSIBLY WITH compass/temp
WITHOUT OnStar?!

I live in Germany, so the OnStar-Buttons won`t make any sense at all... :(

Not from GM I don't believe. Remember that Gentex, the manufacturer of the mirror makes them for a lot of vehicle manufacturers so you may well find what you are looking for in a mirror made for another brand. It's gonna take some digging to see if there is something's available although I have yet to see one.

It's certainly worth digging around though. The tough part is always the map lights but let us know if you come up with something.

So, as stated, why not just get an HHR mirror?  Has all but the camera screen, and plentiful on eBay.  I just bought one on behalf of a friend about a month ago.  Cost $45 shipped and looked new (actually cost less than I paid for mine 2 years ago!)

You could always figure out a separate map light too that is not part of the mirror.

Not sure if the year was even listed when I got mine but I wouldn't get too hung up about it as long as it has all the features you want. It IS nice though if it comes with the pigtail so you've got a pin to use later.

besides the connector, is it possible to mount every mirror that fits an HHR?!

Looking at this one, is it possible to mount and connect it to a sky?!

It woul be easily possible to install two map lights plus an ambient lighting and control it using the OnStar buttons...

Oh yeah that's the same mirror I installed with the exception of the map lights. It's the mirror that my wife has in her Malibu. As Sol Asylum said, if you can come up with another option for map lights or cabin lighting, that will work fine.

I prefer though to keep it looking stock.

Yes, but why DO that?  That's more expensive than the HHR mirrors (*with* maplights) have been going for!

Set up an alert in ebay if you don't see a mirror there so ebay will email you when a mirror gets listed.

I installed an older Gentex mirror in my 2006 Solstice, and found that I had to buy new connector pins to reliably make connections. Since I had to buy 100 of these, I obviously have plenty to share (gratis) with my fellow Kappa modders. The connector pins I bought are TE Connectivity/AMP 1123343-1 and are suitable for 20-24AWG stranded wires.

Send me a private message with your address and number needed, and I'll get you an envelope on the way.

Regards, Alan
