Very nice Helios!  I like it!  Perfect spot to mount the start button.

Looking forward to the rest of the pics.

Awesome, I'm glad to see you're going for it.  Looks like you got everything you wanted in the system.  Are those card things the RFIDs?  They seem a little large.  Are there different options on the RFID?

Here are the pics of the RFID tags. Notice their relative small size (roughly 2-3/4" L x 1-7/8" W). Thickness wise is about 3 credit cards. There is a hole in each RFID to run a lanyard (included).

Next:

- Mounting of electronic control modules (x3).

First, remove 7MM screws (6 total), 4 under the steering column to the lower shroud here:

[ Guests cannot view attachments ]

and 2 under the triangle panel here:

Also, remove the 2 plastic push buttons (A and B) in the first picture.

As you remove the lower shroud, on the back side of the shroud under the AC vent, disconnect the 2 electrical connectors. 1 is the foglight button and 2 is the instrument light dimmer switch.

After removal of the lower shroud, next remove (qty 6) 10MM bolts for the secondary shroud hidden under the lower shroud. Pic 1 is right side of shroud close to center console. Pic 2 is left side near driver's door.

It should look somewhat like this after 10MM bolts are removed.

Next, i set the Passive Keyless Entry Module and  Keyless Push Button Start Module, which came velcroed/ ziptied together, on the shroud to mark where i wanted to drill holes.

[ Guests cannot view attachments ]

I marked holes (x4)

[ Guests cannot view attachments ]

and drilled with a 1/4" drill bit i believe. (just large enough to thread a ziptie through).

[ Guests cannot view attachments ]

I wouldnt drill the holes any lower than what is pictured or it may not have enough clearance to go back up under the steering column. You might be able to go a bit higher, but not much. It's a tight fit.

I mounted the modules as so:

Pulled the zipties tight and cut off the ziptie tails (not pictured).

There was insufficient space to mount the third electronic module (Flashlogic) under the steering column so i had to find an alternate place close by. I chose the downward sloped surface located behind the AC vent. I again marked 4 holes to drill again using a 1/4" drill bit:

[ Guests cannot view attachments ]

I ziptied the module down.

view from the underside:

I wouldnt drill the holes any higher than what is pictured or it may not have enough clearance to accommodate the AC vent and the connectors for the dimmer switch and foglights.

While i was at it, i mounted the dual color LED indicator on the lower shroud removed earlier.

Using a 19/64 drill bit, i drilled and inserted the LED into the location i had chosen.

That's it for now. Only thing i have left to mount are the two antennas. I may only have to use one; both, if the primary antenna harness is too short. After mounting the antennas comes the nerve racking part of actually cutting and soldering the wires into their respective wires. It's about 11 connections if i remember correctly. I've noticed that i dont think all of the wires will be long enough to route to the passenger footwell to connect to/ around the BCM. Obviously, i'll have to extend those. Then i'll only have to plug in the push button, LED indicator, and antennas. Finally, if all goes well, i'll program the system and be finished. Who knows when i'll get around to these remaining parts. For now, enjoy!!!

Good job documenting so far.  Looking forward to what/where you made your electrical connections.

Good luck with the electrical.  I know it can be extremely nerve racking when there's any doubt about which wires to connect where.  My advice, double and triple check with your multimeter.

Actually, yes. The project is complete. I've been using it for about 2 weeks now. I just havent had time to sit and write out the DIY. Overall, i'm fairly impressed. There are some unexpected nuances that i'll discuss when i do the final write up.

Helios.  thanks for taking the time to psot this.  i posted an idea on another forum and was lead here, thankfully.  i essentially want to replicate your install, except using a pseudo key turn a la the CTS.  i will be interested to hear about your nuances to see if they detract from teh install.

I spoke to Bruce today and can see why you liked him.  very willing to explore options over the phone.

thanks,
jeff
