well i ended up flashing back to the stock tune. i have about 40 miles and 3 real life sold starts and short dirves. I have no codes, all things are ready ACCEPT the evap. It STILL states incpmplete. Mind you i had a factory locking cap installed from the dealer since i bought the car. The stock cap has never been used so i put that one on just as a "yes i checked inside the refrigerator" type of deal. I am hoping tomorrows drive it shows complete. If not, i can get away(unless caught) with some driving after that untile is says complete. I f-ing hate hew york. i have no code and i haven't since 07, 08, and 09 so i just hope "key cycles" will soon be reached.

************** side question - - - if i clear a code, say 2237 that i rc'd w the westers ss tune(best tune i have experienced by the way), does that clear ALL codes to a not ready state and the "drive cycle" process starts all over again for EVERYTHING? I know a reflash from tune to tune does, but i haven't checked that out w hpt before as i have limited access to a laptop with it installed....just curious.

i will let you know when i get pulled over  :drive:   :barf:

If you clear ECM or TCM DTCs all I/M readiness flags are set to not ready.  It's the law.  Thank California ARB.

Note that EVAP requires one good trip to pass several tests and two failures to set a DTC and set I/M to not ready.  The small leak EVAP test run after the vehicle is shutoff while it cools down, the ECM will monitor conditions and test for up to 40 mins after shutdown.  After shutting down you need to leave your ride alone and just let it do its thing.  No checking the LEDs and such.  Maybe you're at work, or getting a meal, enjoy and let the ECM work.

Oh yeah, don't add fuel between cold starts when you are trying to get the I/M flags set.

It may seem tricky, it's not. The systems are set to run tests in "normal use", not with ECM clearing, changing, etc.  So once you have your set up, enjoy drving it and in time the on board systems will report their findings.

You're not very far from having to test...
This side of highway 169 is central wa as far as DOE area. When the puget sound air board says burn ban we can light up a pile of stumps and the wood stove.  Its not coming here. Not anytime soon anyway.
